Quick Run on 1N04 and 1N64
« on: August 12, 2015, 08:16:28 PM »
I took a quick shakedown run in Big Bear after all the suspension and steering bits I installed lately, also to possibly get some green trail ideas for CANVAZ. This was going up the 38, turnoff at Glass Road, then onto 1N04 west, 1N64, then 1N64A to the Slide Lake campgrounds, about 20 miles total of easy fire road. There's two yellow posts along the way that can hold two or three trucks each. I didn't see anyone else on the trail except a pair of vehicles, an older Suburban and a Mini of all things; when I passed the Mini, the two inside had a look of "what the heck did we get ourselves into". Luckily they were heading back with no visible damage. :)

Route

A partial picture of the first yellow post campsite and the view looking out:

The second yellow post site was further in the valley, and was overall a bit more flat for tents

And the trail ended down at Slide Lake: not much of a lake currently, but it had some nice views:

I think both the front and back of the X have finally settled in, and wow what a difference it is: driving back on the 38 I had to pull over and check the bolts underneath for my own sanity because how different the suspension felt. ;D
