Title: The Official Fire Arm Thread
Post by: Toro on October 09, 2012, 08:49:21 PM
This is place for the SCCX crew to talk shop, show off and talk smack about fire arms. Lets keep it responsible, legal and respectfull. Most importantly lets keep the politics out of here, its bad enough we live in the Republik of Kalifornia.

Ill kick this one off. I have an extensive collection but I have a recent addition. Just picked up a Glock 22 full size 40s&w. I've shot my buddies 40 and I loved it. I havn't been able to go to the range but I'm itching to go.

Guns dont kill people. Bullets do.

And then there is the Zombie issue... How do you know if you won't get chosen to be the zombie first? There goes all that time prepping right out the window.

At least I have options, and plenty of ammo... ;D

I've got a Marlin 795, cammo'd, bipe'd and scoped.  My oldest is a little sniper with that thing.  Also have 2 Mosin's, one is a 1943 Hungarian M44 and the other is a Russian (I believe) 91/30.  Lastly I have a Khar CW9.  The 91/30 will eventually be getting the full monty whenever I can get the dough together for it.  Lobbed, stocked, triggered, solid mount scoped.

I know, I know...But the hardest thing about the Zombie Apocalypse for me is trying to not get so excited about it.   :D

My guess is gremlins is on the left, women are generally a better shot so she probably needs less bullets, you might have larger hands too, thus needing a grip extension :-)

Ruger NM SA six shooter with 6" barrel and Bisley grips.
Not much good for Zombies but devastating on pocket gophers without alarming the neighbors ::)

I agree. When SHTF, we all need to load up our rigs and get to a safe zone.

After all, you win peace by superior firepower.  8)

No other soviet erra fans? Saw a Mosin mentioned earlier  ;D
I'm an SKS man myself - 1954 Russian SKS, good for hunting, defense & marksmanship. Standinig with no support, I'll hit 3-4 rounds of a 10 round clip at 300 yards. Not bad for a 60 year old rifle  8)

I have a Chinese SKS. I like it alot. I can't imagine hitting anything at 300yards though. I like the finish. Did you finish that or did those darn Russians do it?

That is the finish the Soviet Russians put on. Above pic is straight from Wikipedia (I don't like photos of my rifle on the web) but exact same gun and look. Hitting at 300 yards after a lot of practice, but I'd try to get closer if hunting - wouldn't want to miss a shot and spook the beasty. If I'm sitting or prone and can rest the rifle before firing, I'll hit a good 5 of 10 at 250-300 yards. Also depends on the round used. Plus the Russians simply made the best SKS, before passing production to the soviet satellite countries & eventually China.

Btw Toro, awesome collection of pistols - which, can I ask, is your favorite?

When I lived in Miami i CC a Subcompact XD40.  I haven't really shot it since before my deployment.  WHich reminds me i should go.

I want a stag arms model 7, but I don't like the California laws.  I cannot even have my extended mag for my XD.

So i am buying stuff for the x instead of guns!

I've got a Hi-Point Carbine .40
It's certainly not the coolest firearm but at least it's better than nothing and if nothing else it's heavy enough to use as a club. One of these days I'm gonna pick up a few more firearms but at this point I have too many hobbies/obsessions that take away my money.
