New to Site
« on: September 02, 2018, 01:21:01 PM »
Hello,
I picked up a stock '09 xterra Off-Road in May, and am loving it so far.

I've been on thenewx.org and have enjoyed the trip/build threads very much(especially SHIFT_X's at the moment - learned about many California spots), and recently found out about the sccx group, which is pretty cool.

I'm looking to explore California even more with my wife, and have been learning and getting ideas from this site and thenewx as far as what's around, and the bare necessities needed to go. I'm especially interested in visiting Death Valley, Joshua Tree, more of Owen's Valley(climbed Mt. Whitney last MAy), WHite Mountains, Eastern Sierras, and the Azusa Off-Road park. Also Mammoth area, up to Tahoe, etc. MANY places to explore.

I'm From Michigan Originally, so very familiar with the outdoors and exploring, but new to a vehicle that is actually capable of getting me past where the pavement ends. I'm excited for sure! I enjoy camping, mountain climbing, hunting/fishing, and just exploring in general. I drink and smoke cigars and enjoy partying, but also quiet time in nature as well. No judgement here.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and that I enjoy seeing other people's experiences on these sites. Look forward to getting out there, and making the X "mine" as money allows, and possibly meeting like-minded people here.

A few obligatory photos from first xterra trip to LAke Casitas this past spring..

Cheers!

EDIT* I have no idea how to flip that photo. Not that anyone wants to see my mug anyway, but I tried for 2 days straight to catch a fish, and finally got my first california bass. So I had to brag.

That's a good-looking bass.  Nice rig too.  Welcome to the site.

Welcome from tbe OC.  You'll find the X is a very capable rig for getting in and out of trouble.  With This group, you'll definitely find the trouble, but it's alwsys a good time.

^^And yeah, in case you didn't put it together yet, that's "Shift_X" (he goes by his real name around these parts). I'm sure you made his head so big, it exploded. :D
