Epic camping places
« on: May 02, 2014, 10:07:37 PM »
Alright guys so I'm looking for a place to go camping that has awesome views and just get out of my X and set up camp, you know kinda like jeep or Xterra commercials. You see them going off-roading and then bam you see awesome views. Anywhere in Cali is fine but anything under San Fran is better! Alright I hope this post makes sense lol

Mt. Laguna...go to recreation.gov and check it out. Great hiking, mountain biking, scenic vistas, and the campsites are interspersed within a nice forest.

Also check out Big Bear...Hannah Flat and Crab Flats are nice, with a great green trail network for easy fire road/forestry road cruising.

In Wrightwood you have Guffy and Lupine. They are both great spots. They have pit toilets but you have to bring your own water.

Look up yellow post campsites in Big Bear.  You have to dig a hole for the bathroom but you'll have the area all to yourself.

Of course, for epic, just spend some time in the Eastern Sierras or if you want to do the western side, go to Sequoia/ Kings Canyon, it's a lot less crowded than Yosemite and the big trees are truly epic.

Kennedy, Troy Meadows or Monache in eastern Sierras.
    North Lake in Bishop
Convict and Laurel lakes in Mammoth
    Sunset and Princes in Sequoia.
