Corral Canyon - Los Pinos Mountain 8.1.09
« on: August 01, 2009, 04:49:20 PM »
A friend and I took a trip to Corral Canyon today and did the Los Pinos Lookout loop.  There was a massive tree blocking the trail somewhere on Skye Valley Road.  My buddy tried clearing the path with his winch, but the tree was too heavy.  It is located about 2 miles from the big rock going counter-clockwise.

After we turned around we did the entire loop in the other direction.  I had a really good time and got some practice using 4WD and the rear locker in one spot go back up Espinosa trail (didn't need too, just wanted to give it a shot).

Here are some pictures...the gate to the lookout tower was closed so we did not go up there.

Yea, chainsaws are not on the Xcursion check list though  ;D

That was the first time he used the winch, so I think he just wanted to give it a go.

Maybe I need to update the list.

That's a pretty big piece of wood. Might be a bit much for my little folding Sven Saw, or even the full-size axe that lives under the rear seats.

Too bad the fire lookout was closed, the view is great.
