Title: Calcite Mine/ Dos Cabezas Railroad Station
Post by: Celt on February 05, 2023, 05:57:59 PM
My Dad is leading two trips through ABDNHA and there is room for anyone who wishes to attend. He's also looking for someone to pre-run both routes.

The Calcite Mine is Thursday, March 9th.

Dos Cabezas is Sunday March 26th.

If anyone is interested in the trips or the pre-runs let me know and I will get you the info. It's no cost through ABDNHA. He's providing BBQ and is asking whoever is in attendance to bring a side dish for the potluck for both trips.

A follow up from the Calcite Mine trip: The park service in it's infinite wisdom has gone through and graded the entirety of the road. Now an off the shelf cross over SUV's can get up there without issue. It was never a big challenge but was a lot of fun to go up there with a few fun obstacles and exposure. I'm not sure the reasoning of the park service anymore. They want to limit exposure and human impact to remote places and yet they grade the roads so anyone can go in.
