Title: New Hemet Member
Post by: MtnClimber on January 31, 2013, 11:30:00 AM
Hello.  I am a new member living in Hemet.  I just bought a 2012 Pro 4X.  Love the forums.  Very informative.  I can't wait to get involved in some events with my family and complete some modifications to my X.

Welcome from Northern Orange County.   This is a great group to get involved with.   We don't get into TOO much trouble unless you see someone walking down the trail with a can of Purple Spraypaint..... ;D

Welcome.  I'm in Fontana.

There are some here who really love that purple color.  But the ones you really need to watch out for are those that have yellow Xterras...~:-|

Welcome!!

It's my obligation to let you know that there an epidemic running ramped through the Xterra community. The disease is called ModificationXidis. There's no cure!!

Symptoms include:
- Rapid loss of money
- Obsessive behavior
- Frequent desire to go into the woods
- Frequent desire to play in dirt and mud
- Rapid onset of body armor
- Eratic behavior when driving on unpaved road
- A complete and total disregard of knowing when enough is enough
- Long term rapid loss of money
- Continued loss of money
- Uncontrollable feelings of happiness, satisfaction & pride while driving

You might already be showing signs of ModificationXidis. If you are displaying any of the signs above, or are experiancing any new symptoms, go directly to your local, or on-line parts shop, and buy something for your X. Once installed, you will immediately feel great.

Please let anyone of the SCCX members know if you need anything or have any questions. We are here for you  ;)

OH MY GOD, I CAUGHT IT!!  AAAAAAAAUGH...  I think I've had the more severe, advanced version of this for some time now.

Oh, and if you ever catch yourself laughing madly like Sideshow Bob of "the Simpsons" while offroading your X, then there's no hope for you.

You guys rock!!!  Thanks for the welcome and I certainly have the disease.  I have close to 10k in mods planned but that'll take some time and some spousal convincing.  Wish I could join you guys on the 16th but I'll be doing my taxes in Julian.  Anyone know any good trails for a stock X and beginner driver in that area?

BTW my 4 year old daughter has even caught the bug.  We were waiting while the windows were being tinted and she said, " Daddy, can we go for a mud trip when they're done with the X?"  A quick trip up B canyon and she was all smiles.

Yeah, start em young. She'll see a lot of this beautiful country that her friends will have a hard time getting to in moms Prius.

You can do some serious damage with 10K. But you can equip your rig nicely for much less. Start with some rock sliders and go from there.

Enjoy ModificationXidis...

Rodriguez Canyon near Banner (east side of Julian) is a good one.  A little farther east and Anza Borrego opens up a whole host of trails for stock 4wd's.  Blair Valley is great, and the Pictograph Trail there and Marshal South Trail are both great for kids/hiking.

There's also Holcomb in BigBear, Claw Hammer in Johnson Valley and Odessa/Doran in Calico. Those are favorites of mine ;)

@ Hevak:  How did you know her mom and friend's moms drive Prius'?  I plan on doing the suspension and rock sliders first. Probably Fox 2.0 coil overs and an AAL, but I'm also considering Icon 2.5 Coil Overs and AAL/Shackle.  I like the white knuckle rock sliders alot.  BTW I have discussions on this forum to thank for my choices thus far.

@GhostX and Toro:  Thanks for the trail advice.  Probably taking the daughter up Rousch Ridge today.
