Title: Jayrat's Bradshaw Trail 2017, aka The Greatest Food Run
Post by: Ghost65 on May 01, 2017, 08:41:42 AM
I'll kickstart this one...

The trail was great...the food was better:

Cast iron cool

Jalapeño Cornbread
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170501/18a077a7a632547abaa997c1f1f1de27.jpg)

I tried to snap photos of Jayrat's Trail Stew, but by the time I got to his station...it was all gone!!!  :'(

Also, kudos to Henne and Ilda for their South African snacks...the biltong was passed amongst all of us during the trip.

This was dinner...breakfast pics to follow.

Good times.

We changed things up for the potluck this trip, "progressive style" where folks traveled from camp to camp with plates, grabbing food and chatting.  We really enjoyed this, as it gave you an opportunity to "walk off" about 36 calories  ;) :D ;) between campsites.

But seriously, it was a cool concept, and helped the flow of food to all the hungry trail folks.

If you went away from this one hungry, well...you just missed out.   :)

Like Fosters beer cans, the 48oz bottle of coffee looks "Steve size"  I like it!

Great trip with great people as always!

Thanks for the birthday wishes (and presents) I really appreciate it!

Thanks for great photo work John. Christiaan will feel soooooo stoopid for missing out on this >:D
And thanks to you and everyone behind the grill.   I wish that I was bigger, just so I could have eaten more (lucky Steve ;D).
Hats off to Jayrat for running the whole shebang without a hitch.  Everyone had a great time on the trail and in camp.  It was like Thanksgiving, without the cranberry sauce and weird relatives.

Was there any off roading involved, this looks like an episode from a Cooking Channel TV show.  I ended up driving 45 hours this weekend to Texas and back and the best food I got was Whataburger!

Lol!

Yes... waiting for Jfanaselle to post up some of his shots. Obviously, my "focus" was on the food.

Sorry guys, I've been super busy ever since we got home. Anyway, what an amazing trip! I wanted to say thanks to everyone for making this such a memorable time for my family and I, and special thanks to Jayrat for putting this whole thing together.

Here are some photos. I did my best to move around and get shots of everyone's vehicles out on the trail. I offer my apologies now if I didn't get any or get enough of your rig specifically.

Day 1:

Rendezvous and airing down:

Day 2:

Morning... time for breakfast, and a poser shot:

Wrapping up... the group split into two at Wiley's Well Road. The LA/OC/IE folk headed north to the 10, and the SD folk continued east into Palo Verde to pick up the 78.

Stopped for a couple of shots on the way home. I love the Banning Pass area. :)

Side note: I think I'm done with photobucket. It literally took me 3 hours to upload these photos and share them to the forum. I would get through two or three, and the site would crash my browser and I'd have to restart. I finally just started pasting the links into a word document and pasted everything onto the forum at once when I had it all ready. Grr  >:(

so this was definitely a 4wd trail run? something 2wd will have trouble getting thru or a for sure not for 2wd?

One small section or 2 may have required 4wd but for the most part it is 2wd

Edwin...we pre-ran Red Canyon the day before along with the western portion of The Bradshaw Trail and completed it all in 2WD with our unweighted Tacoma.

Fully loaded with camping/water/gasoline/recovery gear might make some of the steeper/slippery sections interesting...but IMO it can be done with aired down A/T tires and a high clearance vehicle WITH careful driving and preparation.

Amazing shots Joe! Looked like everyone had a blast! Photo bucket does blow, it is so buggy now and full of ads, it drives me nuts when I try to upload multiple photos at once.

Thx guys had fun! I also learned a lot like, since I cant bring enough beer to compete with Steve maybe next time just bring good old Jack Daniels! Oh and never trust an old air mattress, especially on rocky terrain thus having to air it up several times in the middle of the night, after which I said forget it and just slept in the truck due to my horrible pain from my nights sleep on, well rocks! The view at 3:45am was well worth it as the Milky Way lit up the night sky. Simply amazing!

Sounds like time to upgrade to a new self inflating air mattress, ive had good luck with them not developing leaks like the blow up ones.

I love and hate waking up in the middle of the night, it's terrible cause I'm all warm and comfortable but great cause you can see so many stars when your eyes are adjusted to the dark.

I, too, woke up about 3:00 am and was blown away by that Milky Way view! Best I've ever seen it, and it was low to the south horizon. I was tempted to bust out my tripod and camera and try to get some shots, but I fought off the temptation and went back to bed.
