Thanks! FiG installed the ARB this weekend.  Love the awesome pic of your rig after camping!  :D

We def did NOT run this heavy a gauge....  :(

I'm aware of your delight in spending our money!! LOL  Hopefully, I can reciprocate!  >:D

And I really don't want an extra battery in the back, if that can be avoided.....
 
We didn't think we needed an extra battery, either.  Figured we'd keep the vehicle running to air up the tires, and the alternator should handle the load.  How BAD is it if we ran the wrong gauge?

You guys are KILLING ME!!!   :'( :'(   

Already pulled wire and installed ARB OBA (pic to follow)......

Obviously I'm thick headed.....  I don't understand why an extra battery in the back would allow us to run smaller cable...wouldn't it need to be the same gauge? 

And crapola, guys...... I think we ran too small a gauge...... ARB required 10awg, we ran 8awg (2 red, one black).  Obviously we didn't accurately account for distance as we didn't run the formula.... :'(

I looked up the formula and basically we need to run 2awg for each wire?!?!  The 8awg barely fit along the path we ran, how the hell are we supposed to get 3- 2awg wires to fit?!?!?!  :o  :o

Also, just because I'm having a gauge crisis, don't think for a second I don't super appreciate all your input.  'Cuz I do....




First questions first, is your Flux Capacitor set within spec for your year vehicle?

You would only need one 2ga cable run to the back, and it's probably easiest to run that wire along the underside of the vehicle.  A ground can be run along side the positive as well, but a short ground to the body works just as well.  Remember to still account for the length of the ground cable when calculating for voltage drop even if your grounding to the body.(just double the length of the positive cable)

8ga for a 30a compressor in the back of the vehicle is OK, not great but it will work, just not as well.  The single ground for 2 positive leads is a big no-no, each positive needs it's own ground of equal size to the positive

We appreciate er'body's input to make sure Pepe doesn't blow up on the trails!!  O0

We took the following advice:
1. Ran a 2nd ground in parallel (2 red, 2 black - 8ga each)
2. Ran compressor for over 15 mins in 108 degree weather
3. Checked wires for heat

No extra heat, no compressor failures!   We.Are.Good.To.Go!

It's been awhile since I've posted in the Display Case, and altho this isn't an upgrade, I believe maintenance to be just as important (so there).

Today's project: Assess, clean, and repaint skid plates.....

Pre- pictures (after removing 2 inches of Soda Lake Mud/Salt):

I dubbed this one "Ol' Rusty"

Used this product (1 Primer, 4 Black Paint):

I only primed the really bad spots and all of Ol' Rusty.  This paint is supposed to be good for up to 2000 degrees (no open flame), peel resistant, rust inhibitor, and Gas and Oil Resistant (The gas skid plate had some bad peeling and rust due to gas overflow and pluggage [that's a word right?!?!]).  Paint went on really nice, except the last can, it was an a-hole..... 

Final product - still wet but SO PRETTY!!!

  If I took mine off I would probably need Thor's hammer and at least 4 or 5 guys our size to pound them back into shape so I could hopefully get them back on.
