Hey your X looks awesome.  I wanted white but couldn't find an off-road edition so went with black.  Seeing what you have done with yours is inspiring.  Keep up the work.

So the X is down. Stupid power steering reservoir and cooler line is leaking. Looks like a $200 plus repair. Just another repair that is delaying the swap.

Those are awesome! Do they hardmount to the rails and can you make them lockable? Id be interested in one to store some "stuff" inside that is valuable that I may not be able to carry on me at all times...
Title: Re:
Post by: Deadpilot on February 11, 2014, 07:28:25 PM
Yea they hard mount to body of the X through the rails. I have to modify the rails alittle and they get bolted down by a bolt that goes all the way through. And they could be lockable able and made so you can't see in them.

Oh with they way they are mounted they don't rattle at least that I've noticed.

Title: Re:
Post by: Deadpilot on July 02, 2014, 08:20:56 PM
Yup in the process of it. A lot of work removing the front two cross members and planning the rework of them. The big one is the trans support and figuring out how to mount the tc up there. A lot of fab work coming up

Are you 3 linking the front?
What side are you running the upper arm on?
    Are you trussing the diff?
What kind of joints are you using?
..... I'm geeking out. So many questions..
What length shock are you running?
What kind of steering box are you using? Going Hydro?
What size tires will you be running.
Will you be building your own frnt drive shaft tunnel?
    Did you get a bender?
How thick will the arms be?
Will you be removing the body lift?

So I had huge set back today. $2300 worth of parts are going back and I'm on the hunt for a new axle. Long story short 97 dodge dana 44 have worse aftermarket support then our C200k. The parts I ordered would have worked but they don't. So yea it sucks. :(

This is ideal. Expensive, but it's all there. Geared where you want it and locked. Has knuckles and shafts.
It's a JK so your ABS electronics and speedo will keep working.

Wow that's a lot of mula

What tire size are you going to?

If 33s you can't you do a HP dana 30? Throw some good shafts in there. We have gusset and truss a few of these axles. They are reasonably price and parts are easy to come by..

And axle will be stripped, cleaned and rebuilt along with the the Transfer case. Oh I'm going to be able to run front by its self or the rear by its self or both together all in high or low.

Got a lot done today with the sas project till the rain rolled into fallbrook and kinda stopped production cause let's just say welding in water just didn't seem like a good idea.
Here's  what I got done

Transfer case mount the ends will be welded to frame then it will bolt in similar to trans mount.

Up in the frame

And the front axle in place and measured up for the links
(Pic pipe used only for eye balling)

Upper link area

And the rear axle is almost ready but ran into an issue with one of the the parts in the kit so that will be fixed soon.

So today I gave in and took the front, rear axles and transfer case in to get rebuilt. A week to week and half turn around time and all for somewhere around 600 to 700 bucks.

Once these get done it will almost back on the road again. And with those out I can work on things on the X at the same time.

Here's some pics of today's work. Front axles is installed minus the driver side shaft (waiting on new one since ends were bent). Passenger side is complete and weight bering.

hydro assist ram mounted just need to run lines next.

Weight test went good but going to change the springs from 300/300 to 250/300 should sit alittle better

Next is the driver side shaft which should be in next week and along with additional springs to finish the coilovers. After that it's time to run steering lines and brake lines for the front and install the rear axle and new shocks the send out info for drive shafts front and rear. So close now I can almost seeing her driving again.

The shocks are 12" travel so she will have some major flexibility.

The only issue I'm having now is the way the 33's look on her. They are brand new so getting 35's aren't really an option. Unless someone want to buy these tires ;)

Title: Re:

24" sounds about right. You might be able get it a little lower
I'm at about 24" on 37's w/ 6" of uptravel
Title: Re:
Post by: Deadpilot on November 26, 2014, 04:25:55 PM
I'm waiting to be able to drop the rear axle in and that will help get a better idea of the height. But I'm trying get rid of the 33's and go up to the 35's. Once I sell the 33's my tire guy will throw a set of 35's on her and then I'll go from there.

So made some progress today. All the brake lines are ran just need to be bleeded and that system is back up and running. About 90% of the steering lines are ran. Just need two connectors and 6' of hose to finish up those lines. Then I will connect the steering shaft. Next week I hope to have her move out of her stall for the 1st since I put her in there about 9 months ago.

So after yesterday test drive I found out I still have some brake issues that need to be fixed. Parts are on order to repair the caliper on passenger side and some more brake line fittings to fix a few leaks.  I also have to see what the shift linkage is hitting to see why I can't shift in rear high now.  Then I think figured out the vibration noise I'm getting from drive train. I think it's cause the transfer case is hard mounted and the rest is soft mounte. So I'll be ordering parts to fix that problem soon.

Nice Job, Have you done the hard mount yet??
Title: Re:
Post by: Deadpilot on May 13, 2015, 08:35:07 PM
Well the hard mount isn't the best idea from the reading I've done. Since the motor isn't hard mounted. I'm looking into how the 4x4 mount the transmission

So since I could do much work cause of the weather I worked on front end.  I got all the lights hooked back up and winch is back up and running. Also got the ARB compressor mounted with the other thing to for the locker and on board air hook up.

We should get more people together to go play out there too!
Keep us posted on the build

That would be fun. Once I'm ready to go out there I'll let everyone know and we can plan something.

Next week I'm going to try fix my brake issues and also my drive train wobble. Then I can deal with all the warning lights lol

C'mon John, don't insult all of Jason's hard work doing this project from scratch.

It's a beautiful X. He needs to use white tape for his whited out X  ;D

Lol. Good one. But I don't think white tape will fix the speedo problem

So was finally able to get working on the X again today. Got the custom Trans mount in took care of the wobble. Got the brakes bleed out and have most of the pressure back. Just have to bleed them again. Hooked up the front abs sensors and even though I don't have tone rings up front I got my speedo back and some warning lights are gone. But I blew a hydraulic line so tomorrow I'll look at that more and see what happened and where it broke.

But I'm getting closer I think.....

Here's a pic of the mount.

With a np205 behind the stock Trans I kinda need it lol
Title: Re:

She is alive!!! Drive train wobble gone for the most part. Very little is there. Brakes are good. Speedo is working not sure how off it is yet. I put a new battery in a blue top in with 900 CCA.
Tomorrow the X goes in for a trans fluid flush and then Tues it will get its alignment.

So major set back. Got the X to the shop barely.  I have a bad steering issue. It pulled right then I turned right then it over corrected it self. So I had a buddy who builds off trucks look at it. And he said that he could tell the angle of the caster was off. I told him I had it set at 7

Title: Re:

So there other day I went to move my X and I can't get the shifter to move into gear unless I use that shift lock tab thing. Doesn't unlock with the brakes pressed like it should. Also now my horn doesn't work when I hit it but it goes off when I locked the X. I have no idea what is going on now.
Any have an idea other then she is just pissed off lol

Hope it's just a dead battery causing mayhem.

So quick update since it's been awhile. I have figured out why a bad wondering in the front. My panhard bar and steering link were parallel to each other which was correct. But the issue I forgot about was they should have close as possible to parallel to axle/ground. So that will get fixed next week once I get the steel in the make the fixes.
Then my drive train vibration was caused by the trans bolts being stripped out. I guess the factory bolt holes in trans don't like the added weight of the divorce transfer case. Yes that is on its own mount but it all kinda flows together with the weight.

So maybe next week she'll be driving down the road again.

Ok so today I put her back together and took her for some circles down at the bottom of my place got full lock to lock with no issues of steering lag, no hydro assist. So I took her on the street to get some speed only did 30 mph and I got my shaking back, but she track semi good for not having an alignment. So I think I have to check my shims in the rear axle to see if that helps and also Im gonna double check the location of the Transfer case. Then I have to relook at where to mount my hydro ram since the mount will make contact on level ground turning so flexing will break something. So yea....
