Title: BeeDee's lil Holy Jim adventure (pix)
Post by: beedee on April 16, 2016, 04:50:55 PM
With the wifey and baby out of town I had a Saturday all to myself! I've only had my X for two months now and wanted to hit some dirt again. (did some Big Bear the week after Easter)

This week I picked up a portable compressor, and tire deflators and wanted to test them out sooner than later. So this morning I left Long Beach at 9am and was on Trabuco Creek road before 10am. I aired down after pulling on to the dirt and headed down the road. My first time ever airing down and it really smoothed out that washboard road! As I approached the play area along the left side of the road I watched a couple Jeeps and an old Scout play on a few lines. Being new, I asked one of the Jeep drivers for some advice and he was more than willing to spot me on a couple lines.

Here are a couple pix of when I had descended back towards the bottom.

After trying a few different lines many times it was time to head towards the Holy Jim trailhead, but I actually wanted to go to the Trabuco/Horsethief trailhead, so I did. Noticed a couple Forest Service vehicles and a CHP about halfway down the canopied area....looked down to the left and saw this Taco!!!

They believe it happened last night, and a flatbed tow truck was on its way in as I was heading out. That drop is about 8'-10' down, and vertical!

I made it back to the turnaround point and snapped a few pix. There was a Forest Service volunteer on a motorcycle and I talked to him a bit. I asked about the Maple Springs Rd. access and he said it is still closed and will be for awhile.

After hanging out and enjoying the silence and sounds of nature I headed back out. I stopped at the play area again and sessions a few lines again then headed out.

Stopped to air back up before hitting the asphalt. This is the Master Flow Tsunami 1050 from Pep Boys. It worked great and was only $50 after using their online 25% off coupon. Each tire only took about 2 minutes or less to fill back up to 35psi from 20psi.
