also, imo take what "old gear heads" and "jeep" people say about modifying your X with a grain of salt, the xterra is very different from a simple jeep or old school blazer or bronco.  while getting a 4" lift and throwing 37" swampers is common and easy for a jeep or bronco, having ifs makes a big lift much harder than a solid axle.  check out the builds in the display area here and you can get a good idea of what will get you almost anywhere.  there wont be many places you cant go with a 2.5" lift and some skids and its much cheaper than going full retard right out of the gate :)  you should learn the weakness of your xterra before throwing a bunch of money away on 44" swampers and a 454 big block.

like toro said in the other lift thread, 3" is the magic number, going over that is a big hit on the wallet

You can have a lot of fun with a spacer/shackle lift/sliders...having run Moab two years with that set up on blue trails, it was plenty O' fun.  ;D

Pfft, John he's not looking for blue trails. He wants to play on the black diamonds.

Ha!  Well James, he can do that (black diamond) on a spacer/shackle lift...once.   ;)
