I released a carrier pigeon his way yesterday with a note. It must have either gotten lost, or picked off by a falcon. :( Thanks for letting him know Celt!

Thanks for the love guys :-*  And I always like a good Blazing Saddles reference.

As many of you know, I feel quite strongly about the California political agenda, and I've been very busy with the affairs of state lately.

I'm in baby!

I, too, will not be there until Friday afternoon/evening. The Mrs. can't get off of work any sooner.

Who all is bring youngsters? I'm trying to decide whether to bring my 6 year old boy or let him spend the weekend at his Grandma's. He'll no doubt get bored if there aren't other kids there to play with.

So Sharon says it is time to start talking about ...  FOOD!

She is planning on preparing a Charcuterie board for Friday night to share, and Saturday morning we are looking at a couple of options.

Do we need to start a new food thread?

I likes me some vittles............. If she needs any help or wants me to bring anything let me know. I have not got as far as food just yet in my planning but since I'm bringing my wife I better do something other than MRE's and canned soup.

I was talking with the wife today and we can do hash browns or the like but were curious about how many people this would be for? We can do a reasonable amount but if we have 20 or so trucks it would be awfully difficult to accomplish. Maybe we can get a head count of who is interested and go from there.

Yes, I will be bringing mine, and I think there was someone else in the group with one last year. It's not super big, so if anyone else has one, I'd suggest bringing two if we can. I'll also be bringing my 10 lb. propane tank, but with two nights on the propane fire, it also needs to power my stove for Saturday morning bacon and any other cooking I do for myself and my family. So if someone else can bring some more propane that would be great.

As of right now propane fires are acceptable from their website guidelines. Due to fire danger not changing anytime soon I think the only fire they will allow is going to be up at the main fire ring. Last year those fire in a can deals were really nice. They actually put out some decent heat and flicker around like a wood fire but there is no smoke to deal with.

FYI - there's a food thread started. Trying to get together a group breakfast on Saturday and/or some refreshments for Friday evening, if you're interested: https://www.sccxterra.com/smf/index.php?topic=4777.0

Interesting, for the $40, your chance of a good ROI is not that great, I didn't know people left at that point.  The Raffle isn't that special that it's the reason to go???

If that's your MRV motivation...you're doing it wrong.

If that's your MRV motivation...you're doing it wrong.

I think he was making the same point. Basically saying that if people left after the raffle last year, then their primary motivation and timing mechanism was the raffle itself and it's not special enough for that.

I agree, but I also see AA's logic (if they are in-fact trying to get people to stay all the way to the end of the event at noon on Sunday) and I honestly think it'll work. What will happen though is everyone will pack up and be ready to go, they'll gather around the main fire ring for the raffle, and then there will be a mass exodus out of the place and log jam of vehicles trying to get back down the hill. I honestly liked the ability for folks to leave at their own will on Sunday morning much better.

Side note: It's looking more and more like the wife and boy and I won't make it up there until Saturday morning. :( There's craziness at both of our jobs, and I don't see any way I'll be home before 6:30 pm tomorrow. At that point, it's not the brightest idea to head up the mountain and arrive at 8:30 or 9:00 pm to try and set up camp in the dark. So unless I can pull off a miracle and get out of the office several hours earlier than I thought, we'll be up there sometime around 6:30 am on Saturday morning so that we can still contribute to the breakfast (I have a whole ton of bacon and sausage that I purchased just for this event). Sorry that you'll be short a fire pit on Friday night.

See you guys early Saturday morning!
