Danny, looking at the pics of the xterra rack on the Frontrunner website, it looks like they have already lowered the brackets.  Or maybe I'm seeing things?

Frontrunner Xterra Roof Rack Product Page
I've always thought the Web site image was miss leading. The brackets look smaller or lower than they actually are.
If you look at the 3/4 image taken from underneath, the rear section bracket has a cut out for the side loading table. My revision removes this space all together.

Ah, good to know.

I think a full replacement rack is on the short list of mods.

Been busy rewiring my whole dang lighting set up.

Started by doing this.....

Ran new wires through these guys

New dust lights are up

40" 4D all spot beam curved LED bar is ready to land an airbus.

All slapped together and ready for a bath.

I'm not going to lie, I might steal your dust lights idea. Are those just small LEDs? For mine, I was thinking rear fog lights, British style.

Those are nice. Now come the questions...I assume they come on solid when lights are on. The description says they flash, so I guess I'm a little  confused. Are they supposed to flash or just stay solid when used as dust lights? I started reading a little after you posted and no one really said this. I'm probably over thinking, but thanks for your help.

These particular ones, have a torch mode that stays on solid.

Rick - typically the "torch mode" is a separate input wire that will override your selected flash pattern and force the light all the way on when it receives a 12V positive input to that particular wire. So basically, you can hook up the light to flash on one switch (using the internal flasher mechanism within the light), and connect the "torch mode" wire to your brake light and/or running lights. You can engage the switch to make the light flash on the pattern you've selected, and the light will burn solid if you hit the brakes or have your headlights/running lights on. You can also install a switch on the "torch mode" wire so that it will only illuminate with your brakes/running lights when you want it to. Most of these also have a "solid on" setting within the flash patterns, so you can select that particular flash pattern and simply use it like a regular light also (but you can use the torch mode wire the same way and not even hook up the standard flash pattern wire, it's all up to you). It's a cool setup, and can be done many many different ways.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I've been looking at the strobes and the no kidding rear light bars, trying to come up with a solution for my truck. These seem like a good solution.

Will not be a quick project, will not be built over night but is something I've always wanted to tackle. This week I took delivery of something I've ways wanted to do.

54" axle

A pair of 12000lb hubs

1500lb leafs

Leaf hangers and shackles

The u-bolts are somewhere around here...

Off Road Trailer.....here I come!
