Like the overkill badge...suits you.  ;)

When my rig grows up, it can only hope to keep up with this beast.

Been trying for years...hasn't happened yet.

Good call!!

Thanks, I heard that higher Altitude does a few things to the Halogen gas and makes the lights dimmer  ;) ha-ha

But seriously, Its a good idea to check all your lights, especially before a night run with any aftermarket lights. A few inches of lift make a huge difference.

Chris, while I am laid up, did a little research for you on ham testing/licensing/brick and mortar outlets for you to check out.

Start here, at HRO (Ham Radio Outlet), easily the most recognizable brick and mortar retail outlet:

HRO Sunnyvale, CA (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ham-radio-outlet-sunnyvale)

Now, I did a little research on amateur radio clubs in your area Chris, and this one caught my eye.  West Valley Amateur Radio club, and if you scan their schedule as I did, you will notice they hosted a meeting to discuss "EmComm for the Apocalypse"  This sounds like a group right up your alley.  ;)

WVARA.org (http://www.wvara.org/)

Here's a few more helpful links for you to check out:

Palo Alto Amateur Radio club:

PAARA.org (http://www.paara.org/)

Loma Prieta Amateur Radio club:

LPARC.org (http://www.lparc.org/)  (this club actually had info. on classes on their home page)

Good luck, and feel free to text or PM me with ANY questions you have.

It is now a one off.
however if you want one, now would be the time to order it.
stay tuned for price. it may be expensive. (he did alot of evaluation of the possibilities)

second one may be cheaper since he knows what is possible .
Also the fab is fresh in his and his teams mind.

Limits potential flexing issues. If the carrier flexes towards the cab, the carrier mounted tube makes contact with the top of the bumper and limits flex.

With a 33" MT  tire mounted

Before anyone says anything about obscuring the rearview, this is now a trail/camping/expedition rig....NOT a daily driver.

This honestly confuses me.

Flex where?  If a bumper is built with 3/16" steel, where would the flex come from?  Swingarm/tire carrier?

Well, I also like the higher mount for a steeper departure angle...can't tell you how many times my Calmini/Shrock spare tire dragged in Moab.  Enough to wear a hole in my tire cover.

In case of...... :)

Failure?  Never!  :D :D :D

Mount tabs for D-rings

Jeff put this welded tab on the cross-member and wont tell me what it is for till it comes back from the powdercoater.

He also says it is not for a bottle opener :)
GeoXplorer stopped by and guessed what it was immediately.
any help from you guys as to what this could be for?
it already has a CB mount tab and HAM mount tab.

Oh one last thing .....

the Donkey dong was removed and another short tube welded in at the hinge area.

you know you need a need timing chain?
i said no I did not know that.
he said listen to the sound ( engine running with a really high pitched whine)

I've had the whine for a while. I was quoted 1.3k. I then argued with the guy about replacing a part that's supposed to last the life time of the vehicle at 70k miles. I'm pretty sure I can swing this myself.

If within warranty which Nissan extended warranty for "some" 2005-2008 models to 72months/72000miles.    I didn't think it was a recall, but a "Service Bulletin".  To quote Nissan there was no safety hazard.   But what about the timing chain?   Was it just planned to wear out too?

Progress report.......
Shock skid installed with bolt instead of self tapping screw

I love that when I take it to Arabias, they fix everything ...even poorly designed aftermarket items.
self tapping bolts should not be used for stuctural items(IMHO) and Arabias thinks the same way.
Say all you want about how your sliders are just fine with self tapping bolts but I'm not in agreement......

Front and rear brake pads replaced(hattip Brian cherry hill Nissan)
Front and rear diffs fluids replaced
Front bumper is off to the powder coater...

Still in work....

Remove front bumper and repowdercoat "Black"
Fix and repair belly armor mounts bolts sheared off
Run air line from Warn powerplant compressor intake to engine air filter box
Install InSainFab rear Corner panels on body
Install stop chain and bungee on rear bumper swing out arm to prevent hyper extending and pulling strut apart (the Grooters mod )
Install LED's for reverse lights in rear "badassery" bumper
Install aluminum engraved "Arabias Overkill" hawse fairlead to replace roller fairlead on front bumper

Looks good Chris.
Since your going through a fabricator, why not have him build proper boxed mounts instead of reinforcing that lower. The upper mount is especially crappy on our rigs because the shock is only held on from one side. The lower mount can be raised up out of the way while the upper can be raised the same amount to maintain shock travel and articulation

Still need to order a second ARB refrigerator slide bracket and second ARB transit bag .
For those asking if I can see anything out the rear view mirror. ....Not much.
But this is long range planning for the Deadhorse trip in 2017.

Most likely the second fridge will go in the trailer.

Looks good CH. I really like the secondary storage behind the rear seats. Good place to store recovery gear or tools that you (hopefully) don't need to get to as often as your food and camping supplies. Good use of otherwise wasted space.
