Title: Holcomb Creek Trail
Post by: Jayrat on June 09, 2017, 08:37:41 PM
Has anyone done Holcomb Creek Trail in Big Bear ???

If so is it possible without Lockers ??

Is it a Real Black Trail or is Grayish

While I have never been on it I did a quick youtube search and found the gate keeper. While it's an older video I suppose this will give you an idea of what you are looking at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvaAIpJ9n1o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS4jYiVWFGo

Hopefully someone here who has actually run it and not just being a keyboard commando as I am doing right now will be able to chime in with some gooder info.

I did it during the last CANVAZ.  It is a difficult trail.  Lockers are strongly recommended.  Both Toro and I got hung up on the ate keeper, luckily he had a winch to pull us over.  I would not recommend this trail if you dont have good ground clearance and lots of armor.  I rolled the passenger fender on one section, serious articulation.

X2
Been on this trail a couple of times and this last CANVAZ was tough....mostly because all the rocks were wet.
I would, also, not recomend this with out (a) locker(s).
This is a true black trail.

I'm down for Holcom also.  Pontiac Sluice has gotten tougher.  We did it last year during Mtn Rendezvous and it was a lot different from when Terry took us.

Jay, if you Pontiac make sure whoever you take has some experience.  there could be damage.
