Adopt-A-Trail Meeting Notes
June 15, 2016
• Approximately 100 people were in attendance. Mostly jeepers, a few IH Scout owners, a few Bronco owners, two from American Adventurists, several side-by-side and motorcycle people, and three from SCCX.
• American Adventurists was the new group. They have officially adopted 1N05 & 1N05C
• Quinn Thomas is now on the Leadership Team for technical training
• AAT received a Grant for $11,300 from Inland Empire Four Wheelers. This money will be used to provide first aid training for one member from each group. It will also be used to reprint forest service maps. If we have more ideas, we are to send them to Angela, the volunteer coordinator.
• Kim Harlow needs updated membership agreements
• The Barstow Field Office is working on a project to get the Santa Fe trail connected from New Mexico all the way into California – all off road.
• When we do clean-ups, be sure to take before and after pictures.
• BOLO – There is a 5150 (Crazy MoFo) hanging out in Holcomb Valley. He drives a white Blazer with expired Texas plates and no rear windows, only curtains. Avoid and call it in.
• The leadership team is working on some training opportunites:
o Black Diamond Driving Technique
o Vehicle Recovery
o Trailside Repair
o If we have other ideas, send them to Quinn Thomas
• Fire restrictions will likely start July 1, 2016
• OHV Fund is working on a couple of projects:
o Baldy Mesa ATV Trail
o The Rattlesnake Project – 15 miles of new motorcycle trails
• Post trail projects on Yahoo Group with Before/After photos and GPS location
• Be sure to check carefully for ticks. They could be carrying lyme disease.
• Watch out for Flash Mobs. If you come across spontaneous mobs of quads/motorcyclists/side-by-sides call it in: (909)383-5654
• This year’s BBQ & Awards Ceremony will be at Glenn Helen Regional Park on Saturday, October 29th. Although there will be a cookoff & bakeoff, it will also be catered, possibly by In-N-Out Burgers.
• For fire season, be sure to monitor
http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/ for real-time fire information
• The next meeting is scheduled for September 14, 2016
• Meeting adjourned on time at 2100h
• On the sign-in sheet, they had a column for listing your total hours including travel to attend the meeting. So that counts toward our AAT total.
