Title: New member from Granada Hills, CA
Post by: XterraFred on October 04, 2019, 12:33:29 PM
Hello all,

I just joined SCCX after recently purchasing a used 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4x 75k miles (see the pictures below).  My son (Montae 11 y/o) and I look forward to connecting with other xterra owners and possibly doing some off-roading/trips.

I'd appreciate any feedback on this vehicle as this is my first Xterra in terms of maintenance and upgrades.

I look forward to your feedback and meeting you soon.

Thank you,
Fred

Thank you all for your welcome.  I look forward to meeting you all soon.

Also, since I am new to this board, I was wondering where I should post a question regarding upgrading my headlights.  They seem pretty weak.  I was thinking about maybe buying LED bulbs but not sure how well they will work.

Thanks for your time.

Technical discussions mostly go there.

Honestly the best upgrade is going to be either brighter halogen bulbs, or going with a projector retrofit inside the stock lights.  sticking LED's inside the stock housings will just blind everyone on the road in front of you while providing a marginal upgrade to visible light for you.

Hi Xmrk24X,  from what I understand, Hungry Valley is closed due to Covid, but when it opens, sure.

According to the Park site the rails are open for day use.  Miller Jeep trail is supposed to be a fun one.  Post up when you think you want to go.  There are a few of use north of the border that might be able to join you.

FOr you new guys, anything below Camp Pendleton is south of the border.  The San Diego guys like to refer to anything north of Pendleton as LA. ;) :D

Hungry valley is open, went there about a month ago. It was pretty packed that time tho. Seems outdoor activities are becoming more popular

Seems outdoor activities are becoming more popular

Boy, you ain't kidding. Not only are the activities more popular right now, but the equipment/supplies/vendors that allow us to participate in those activities are still overwhelmed. Good luck to anyone trying to find a good deal on a kayak, mountain bike, roof top tent, 4 wheel drive vehicle, or anything else like that right now. My neighbor had to wait almost 6 months for his RTT to arrive after he purchased it in the spring time. COVID not only created an increased demand for these items, but it also disrupted the production and supply chain that creates and distributes them, so it was like a double whammy.

And everywhere that you try to go and recreate is overwhelmed with people using their "new stuff," because there's so few places that are actually open to recreation at the moment. Sure makes it hard to go enjoy the great outdoors right now. :(
