Title: Damage survey request
Post by: Celt on February 15, 2017, 04:34:57 PM
Forrest service is requesting someone from our group goes out to survey any damage from the recent rains. Is there anyone who could take a run out to 2N02 and photo any big erosion issues or downed trees etc here in the near future? I'm fairly well booked up the next couple weeks so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't there still snow cover on the ground.  I'm afraid of snow :P

I might be able to do it the 25th if that's not too late.

That's perfect if you can do it. Please photograph anything significant along with GPS coordinates if possible. Record your time for everyone from door to door as well because this counts for Forrest Service hours.

That's just because you got hit with a yellow snowball in 3rd grade.

I'm set for Saturday if anybody else want to go along.

Celt, How far do I need to go?  My plan was to go to Pioneer town since I've never been there before.  Do I survey to the intersection or as far as 2N02 goes?

Going to Pioneer Town is just fine. I and the park service really appreciate this! If you see anything that looks damaged like big washouts or trees across the road, potentially dangerous things like a tree ready to come down across the trail etc please photo it and get a GPS coordinate if possible. Record all the hours for each person from door to door and anything else noteworthy. If it's more than just a couple of you going there is a sign in sheet the park service wants us to fill out and sign in case they get audited.

Any other (weekend) day besides the 25th and I'd be in. It's our anniversary, and I don't think trail clearing is what my wife had in mind.....

I was planning to join you Tim but my wife just found out last night that she has to work from 6:00 am to noon on Saturday. That means I'll have the boy all day, and he has a Saturday morning obligation that we won't be completed with until 10:15 am or so. I'm sure you'll be halfway down the trail by then. :(

I'd love to go, but it is too hard for me to bring along our 1.5 year old daughter without anyone to help. My wife works Saturdays, so I have the baby all day.

Woody, you can email them to me along with your hours and I'll take care of it. Thanks much for doing this for all of us!
