Yes. I added myself to the Watch list.
-
I should be there for this one as well.
-
Instagram says RSVPs go live 1/14/19 at 12:00pm central time.
-
Steve posted first on the RSVP. I got third & fourth spots.
-
Do I get a prize??
I am VERY excited for a new location.
$40 donation to CORVA, which is an awesome organization.
-
Unless they change there minds and tell us it is $40 at the gate, in addition to the $20 on-line like they did last year. I am not griping about the money, just that I was lucky to actually have another $20 cash on me.

They have confirmed it is $40 at the gate as well. No big deal, just need to know before I get there.

I don't know who this guy "Insta Gram" is but I would figure he's some kinda furner type based on that name. However I digress, Steve please tell him I said thank you for this valuable information.

I am thinking about attending but don’t know much about the event. I was drawn in by the desert cleanup but that is now not happening. Besides a cook off what else goes on? I also cannot be there on Saturday. My wife would be with me and has to be back Saturday. I don’t want to take a valuable spot.
Also, with 130 spots, is this more a party or a camping trip?
G.B.H.

I don't think you would be taking up a valuable spot. There are spots for 130 vehicles with no limits on how many people in each vehicle. It's something in between a party and a camping outing. They will put together runs on trails or you could take off yourself with a couple people and do the same. Everything is pretty low key so you can decide for yourself what you like to do. Sage Bromax and myself tend to set up or camp on the outskirts and stay there. Were not being unsocial we just enjoy each others company. If folks drop by were more than happy to spend time with them for the most part. Some folks elect to join the discussions held normally by the main fire by day and hang out there by night. The classes/discussions are well put together and range from first aid to self recovery etc. Many people walk around and learn about what everyone else is doing with their vehicles and improving self sufficiency while out and about. The raffle is always a lot of fun and our group has always faired well in loot. All in all its a fun trip where you can meet lots of good folks or hang out for some much needed down time.

I think I’ll sign up. Nothing says I can’t leave if it’s not my thing. Thanks for the clarification. I will be on the outskirts as well.

Youngest son (Dylan) has a screen name of DangerWillRob on the Am. Exp. site. Not that he is a science fiction fan, or anything. ;)
-
I was 96, I didn't even look at the dates before sending payment. I will be in AZ that weekend so I won't be able to make it.

Well that stinks.... I "think" there will just be 8 of us out there for the event in looking at the AA site.

Hey , is the location near Carrizo Summit just off Bradshaw Trail?
I was using the 2013 Coordinates ??

Im assuming you are thinking of the 2014 Coordinates. I tried finding the DR of 2013 but nothing on their subforum. I found the 2014 Coordinates that are very close to what you say. Not sure if its gonna be this spot but I would doubt it since I do remember Dave stating that they are brining back old school

"LOCATION: New location, coordinates will be posted here prior to the event. For those who were around in the beginning, we're going old school Rendezvous this year!"

They may mean the coordinates will only be revealed shortly before the event, not that they will use an old location.
-
Hopefully it's not out there by Chiraco Summit. It's a nice location but man is that a long drive just to go camping.
-
I have no insider information on the location for this year.
My gut is that it will be in the same spot, or close to it, as last year.
I think the main issue was coordinating with the BLM and their permitting process due to the government shutdown.
But, I'd assume that they had the permit application and fee in long before that.
The first DRV I went to, 2014, was off of Red Cloud Mine Road I think.
Basically the same terrain as the one off Split Mountain Road, accept the mountain is in a different spot and it's more dry lake-y from what I recall.

They just let it slip, on the thread where they were looking for trip leaders: https://americanadventurist.com/forum/threads/2019-drv-trail-run-leaders.6602/#post-122600
"Anza area in or around Fish Creek."

Nice catch

I just posted a trail run over there. I will lead the run down Canyon Sin Nombre, up Arroyo Seco del Diablo, over the Diablo Dropoff, and back to Fish Creek Wash, Split Mountain, then back to camp. This is the same run we did for CANVAZ last October. I am going to have my son drive my Xterra and I will narrate about the geology.

Location is now posted:
DRV2019 Location 33.02590 -116.00660
Same place as last year.

I'm starting to get pretty excited. Four days of away from here and relaxation in the desert. With all of this rain we have been getting I expect it to start to get green down there. I'm pretty sure that we will mostly camp together in the SCCX compound. The weather is supposed to be high 30's to maybe 40 by night. Since we will have the obligatory fire please try and bring as much wood as possible so we can have a nice warm fire!
-
When is everyone planning on being there? We are leaving sometime Thursday. Not sure of time yet.

I'm planning on being there around noon or so.

I will have the compound in construction pending your arrival. The high ground for the sniper hide shouldnt be difficut but I might need some help digging and sandbagging the 120mm mortar pit.
-
im arriving early Sat. Damn doggo has ball surgery post checkup this Friday.
-
Looking forward to seeing you guys there!
Jay- next time I see you, if I've got extra, I'll save you a scavenger hunt prize for your little one. :)

Sorry everyone, I'm out for this event. :( Looks like my steering rack finally took a dump on me. It's now leaking a lot of fluid and making a horrible noise. Can't risk taking it anywhere until I can get under there and pull some skid plates off and see what is going on.
-
Sorry to hear that, Joe.
They have posted up their camp location. That seems to be a bit further southeast than previous years.
