Jordan, Stella, New Castle, St. Pauli Girl, any good lager.  Hey, you're a helper, let the modders bring the beer!

Amen! These shall all be accounted for.

Just ordered my Cam bolts, glad Adio asked about the alignment and reminded me! Hah.

I just ordered my lift and CB radio set up. I'll definitely have my lift by the 8th, and hopefully the CB set up as well.

Modders!

I have a question; I have new-to-me UCA's with new bushings for Saturday; is there an easy way to get the new bushings into the UCA's?  Should I try to get that handled before Saturday?  Is there a fancy tool I need for this?

Thanks...

You should be able to remove the bushings along with the bolt sleeve just by pulling them apart with pliers. They are just pressed or pushed together using a rubber mallet. The only thing I can't remember is if you have to remove the zerk fitting first.

Normally I would use a press to remove and install bushings but it can be done if careful with a mallet.  My SLR UCA on my first gen were a pita when I tried with a mallet so I waited to install them at work where we had a press and it was easy going.  I would try it and if you can't get it, find a press and get it done.

Well, it looks as if I may be 'Modding' a new alternator.  Apparently crossing creeks @ 35MPH is hard on the bearings.  I thought that I was just cooling them off from two days on the Mohave Desert :-\  I'll see if I can find one in time.

So I stumbled across this thread on TNX today...

http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=144

Grease....any specific kind I should be picking up or can I literally just stop at O'Rielly and get a tub o' lard for however much?

""You need a 14mm x 90mm 1.50 bolt but you can substitute
a 9/16 x 3" grade 8 bolt if necessary, this is what i did, to avoid special
ordering the metric bolt, and it works perfectly.""

I will print that out and take it into DeNault's hardware to make sure I have at least the 9/16th bolt....

Anything else?  Sawzall?  I know I have a few friends who have them....should I bring one?

Are you talking about UCA install? If so, I've got a spare metric bolt so the factory nut can be reused.  Also i have a mini sawzall that makes the job cake.  But honestly its not that hard to move the steering out of the way either, making it possible to just remove the stock bolt and reuse it.

FYI, if you assemble the bushings in the total chaos arms, lube everything very well, you cant use too much lube.  And pack it in between the bushings.  And you will need a grease gun to regularly grease the arms to stop the squeaking.  Any lube will do but I prefer synthetic

Yeah, it would be just the UCA's....haven't purchased spacers just yet  ;)

I think I'm gonna pick up a bolt or two anyway....just in case...but thanks Jordan :)

Also, I think I have help with the bushings on Thursday night, so I think they'll be all lubed up and ready to glide on Saturday...

Have we considered a post-mod day trial run??

Just a thought!!.....

Arg.  I have the Advanced Coilover Kit from PRG I need to install and I'm out of town this weekend. *head-desk*

Going to need to find another date to get them on as I don't have all the right tools and jacks to do it at home. :/

Have fun guys and hope to see you up here on the mountain soon!

Typically we run late on the mods :-\  But if there's time, we have Anza Borego's Oriflamme trail to the south, Bee canyon trail to Idyllwild in the NE and a secret road to Hell's Kitchen on Ortega Hwy to the NW.  Let's see how it goes.

I'm out for the mod day. My parts haven't arrived and probably won't.
