Winter Mojave Rd 2017.
« on: January 31, 2016, 06:52:44 PM »
Since it looks like it was a pretty big success, I would like to see who is tentatively interested in another Winter Mojave Rd trip for 2017. I was thinking Jan 14th/15th and 16th just like this year. One thing I think I will change is just having one group. Sage Bromax and I did a lot of planning and preparation for two different groups. I understand if folks may need to have to back out at the last minute and that's ok, especially if there is a wait list but several were just plain no-shows after confirming they were coming. I'd like to limit that this time around so here is what I'm proposing. Camp at Afton Rd. on Thursday 01/12/17 and head east from there. Laughlin NV on 01/15/17 where I can hopefully swing another good hotel deal.

The other idea I'm proposing and in truth really want to do is, I am thinking of grabbing a good nights sleep at Laughlin and heading back out the next day on the Mojave eastward completing the run on 01/19/17 and staying at Afton camp that night and get up to head home whenever folks feel good and ready to. Maybe altering the route a little to go see some different territory? This is still in the planning phase for sure but it might give some folks an opportunity to run the MJR during the week vs. on the weekend.

Count me in.   ;)

Unless you specify one trip or the other I'm assuming that you are signing up for both ways along the road. If you only want to take one of the trips that's completely fine just let me know so I can adjust the lists and make room for others who may have interest. For those of you that have signed up with interest to go, please take a few minutes to chime in on a possible different route on the way back. I'm fine with running the road in reverse again but if there is interest on an alternate route I'm all for that too! One thing I would like to avoid as much as possible is asphalt and people would be the two elements I would like to throw out there for anything alternate.

Put me down for the west-to-east run.  This is pretty far out, so I could have a work trip pop-up and this could potentially interfere with Winter Fun Fest, which I plan on making a yearly thing since it was a blast this year.  I'll let you know as soon as something comes up.  Thanks Celt!

Good call Celt...please take Fire Ninja and myself off the return list.  A return trip might be just a little too long to stew in our own juices....

No worries at all, got you on the list. Hopefully nothing comes up as I would love to have you along but I completely understand how work and life sometimes gets in the way of this stuff.
