Comments: In the next month I will have installed Icon 2.5 coil overs, a Deaver Leaf Kit, Total Chaos UCA's, and White Knuckle Sliders. I am still debating between Shrockworks and Hefty for armor. Any suggestions or advice beyond what I've found on this forum would be appreciated. I also plan on adding a Gobi rack.

I know I am going to get flamed on this one, but...
Hands down Shrockworks.
Yes, the wait time is looooong...but the quality and fitment are far superior IMHO.
Order now so you can receive your skids/bumpers for summer time.
-
Thanks for the reply GhostX. I wish I could afford it right now. Kind of blew my wallet out with the other changes that were necessary before doing the armor. I will probably do the Shrockworks skid plates soon though.
-
Hefty has skids on the shelf. No waiting.
WhiteKnuckle owns the slider market. (I'm on the payroll ;))
Bumpers are all preference. Shrock's are bad ass.
-
Thanks for the info Toro. I am getting the WK sliders with dom tubing this week. Still haven't decided on the bumpers yet. Leaning towards hefty for the skids after what you have told me although I've heard that fitment can be a pain.
Particularly with the skids.
-
Right on. Hefty skids are awesome. There have been a few scattered fitment reports but not many.
If you get Hefty skids along with your WKOR sliders, you will have to cut a 2"x2" knotch out of the gas tank skid. It's not that big of a deal but both use that certain spot. The skid doesn't necessarily need it, so most knotch the skid.

Dude thanks alot for all the info and the pic!
-
Great info Danny.
-
NP, and if you need any help putting any of this stuff on..... My driveway in Arcadia is always open.
-
Right on...I appreciate the offer. Do you happen to know how lobg it takes White Knuckle to produce the sliders?
-
That's the beauty of it. It takes John about 3 weeks. Tell him Danny with the Xterra sent you. He'll say..."Who?".
-
He might have a set ready to go. Adarsh (Unbreakable) just scored a set he had lying around. He just drove over to Apple Valley and picked them up.
-
Thanks guys...I really appreciate the info.

Just a thought on your slider install...having run "bolt-on" sliders for about two years, and now having welded sliders, the difference was surprising.
Welding on the WKS might eliminate the need to notch the gas tank skid, and provide a more solid platform to "slide" with.
-
Already planning on welding them on. My neighbor had that suggestion. Should i do both though? Or will the weld eliminate the need to bolt? I think the cutting of the gas tank plate had to do with the use of the same spot on the frame rail but I could be wrong.
-
Weld them or not, I wouldn't recommend cutting the slider. The "L" shape bracket that attaches to the frame gives support for virtical hits and hi-lifting.
And yes, both use the same spot on the frame
-
You could use the few bolts on the white knuckle sliders that don't need holes drilled to hold them tight to the frame while welding them on.
-
Right on guys...I am absolutely stoked that I made the decision to join this forum. Thanks again for the much needed and welcomed advice.
-
I suggest you bolt em on and then weld them.

Then duct tape for the true seal...

Then duct tape for the true seal...
And some cable ties would add much needed redundancy.
Those White Knuckle sliders are awesome, I wish they were around when I got my sliders, they look BA.
-
What about superglue? I mean come on guys get with it. :D

why pay more? Elmer's works just fine. ;)

Nice...lol.

Ordered the front and rear bumpers (all a little custom) and a full set of skid plates from Hefty yesterday. Chris told me it would be about 12 weeks. Also ordered the White Knuckle sliders. 2 weeks for those. Anyone have any suggestions for a less expensive but reliable winch with synthetic?
-
Engo e9000s from jeephut.com
-
I was looking at the VR10000s. More expensive but I know Warn is an awesome product. Any knowledge about this particular one?
-
TJM Stealth 9000
Comes with a lifetime warranty and goes for under $700

Well there was a review that I used when I was researching what winch to buy:
http://www.fourwheeler.com/techarticles/129_1107_massive_multi_winch_shootout/index.html (http://www.fourwheeler.com/techarticles/129_1107_massive_multi_winch_shootout/index.html)
This might be something interesting to consider, before buying.
NOTE: Make sure you figure out who paid for the review, then you will understand the winner.
-
Thanks for the info Terry. Excellent article. I almost went with Superwinch...still thinking about it. I do like the fact that Warn is manufactured here.
-
Well I went with the Engo 10000s (synth line) and have not been dissapointed in any respect. I have used it several times including pulling myself out of trouble twice.
Only problem I had was with the wireless control, but Engo replaced it with absolutely no questions asked.
-
Very nice...I'll definitely consider that. Thanks again for the help.

Picking up the White Knuckle Sliders tomorrow...can't wait. Lifting it next week...woohoo. Pics to come.
