Just moved to the Valley from TX
« on: August 05, 2015, 10:30:39 AM »
Hey guys.  I just moved here from Austin, TX.  Drove my 08 Xterra Offroad hauling a trailer the whole way.  The Xterra only has a few mods.  Daystar lift, Shrockworks front bumper and skid, HID headlights, 18" wheels wrapped in 33" Nitto's.  I've run through a little mud and done a touch of rock crawling with it.  I did spring a differential leak from the pinion seal on the way here.  Any one have any experience with that?  I don't have any air tools with me and it seems like all the stealership's service departments have terrible reviews.  Trying to figure out what to do.  Any local advice?

Welcome TX,
I don't personaly don't know anything about the seal, but here's a link to a national site that has a lot more on-line help.  If anyone here knows something, they will likely chime in.  Let us know where you are in the Valley.  Good luck from Fallbrook.

Welcome from Riverside/Moreno Valley! Like Randy posted, The New X website has an extensive log of issues and solutions for the 2nd Gens. I don't remember if we have a write up on the differential/pinion seal here on SCCX yet, but it looks like that thread should get you started.
