Mojave Rd 04.19.2013-04.21.2013
« on: November 28, 2012, 10:36:30 AM »
Looks like interest is definitely there. This is happening, who's down? Head to Laughlin on Friday the 19th. Stay at hotel/camp. Hit the road early Sat the 20th. Camp Sat night along the road. Finish road on Sunday. No real wheeling, just a desert trip and camping through a historical, 120 mile, desert road.
We would be starting in Laughlin, at the AVI Casino, on the morning of the 20th and head west towards I-15. Camp at Hole in the wall, Camp Mojave or Beal Mt on Saturday night. We can take a vote but I think I'd like to end it at Afton Canyon and avoid the "Mojave River".
This is stock (running boards and mud flaps style) and family friendly.

Please PM me any official interest and Ill add you to the list. Send me your name and how many co-pilots you'll have

Who's in

1. Toro/Danny + 1 (the wife is coming!!yeah!!)
2. RockinX/Marshann

Stand By
1.)
2.)

If I don't have your cell, please PM it to me

Due to permits for large groups, this run is capped at 15 vehicles and 35 people.
If we fill up, I will start a standby list. Last year we had about 6+ last min cancelations. We will not run a second smaller group to circumvent the permit. I'm on the hook and held responsible with the Mojave National Preserve and don't want to poke a bear.
Permit application is $69. Once its writen, It has to be sent back and forth a couple times for amendments and drafts. I used 3 day USPS and I'm looking at about $100 so far. Some help would be appreciated.
I think $5 a truck is reasonable. If your okay with this please Paypal to dhpreciado@yahoo.com.

More Details on Saturday......

Please don't be late or get too plastered on Friday night. We are a large group of 15 rigs, hours from home, and need to stay on some sort of schedule.

We will roll out of the AVI casino at 0800 on Saturday morning. The Parking lot of the AVI Casino has a gas station and a connivence store with snack, ice, last min RedBull's, M80's and Roman Candles. I plan on being there around 0730.

We will back track to the Colorado River and take pictures at the official start of the Mojave Rd. We will then head west towards home. Plan for long days in the saddle and please be open to an early start on Sunday. We will run deep on Saturday in order to have an easier Sunday. We will stop at Hole In The Wall camp site to empty any trash before we head into our camp.
We will be on the road no later than 0900 on Sunday. We will be waking up in the desert and it gets hot quick. Being cleaned up and ready to roll early will make your experience better.
Please do not do anything that will comprimise the fun factor of this run. Any fire arms will be handled responsibly and absolutely not be mixed with alcohol. Please do not put anyone in a position where they feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
The Mojave Rd is usually done in more time than 2 days. I plan on slow and steady progress with some exploring. If there is anything you would like to see, let me know. Time permitting, we will work it into the trip.

CB Channel will be 17
2M Simplex HAM will be 146.535

My wife and I are really looking forward to this weekend. We hope to make it a fun and memorable experience.

We did it in April last year and it was HOT! Last year was a dry year though. This year is much different and March might still hold rain so it's looking like April.
