Looks like interest is definitely there. This is happening, who's down? Head to Laughlin on Friday the 19th. Stay at hotel/camp. Hit the road early Sat the 20th. Camp Sat night along the road. Finish road on Sunday. No real wheeling, just a desert trip and camping through a historical, 120 mile, desert road.
We would be starting in Laughlin, at the AVI Casino, on the morning of the 20th and head west towards I-15. Camp at Hole in the wall, Camp Mojave or Beal Mt on Saturday night. We can take a vote but I think I'd like to end it at Afton Canyon and avoid the "Mojave River".
This is stock (running boards and mud flaps style) and family friendly.
Please PM me any official interest and Ill add you to the list. Send me your name and how many co-pilots you'll have

We are full but it's not over. There are always cancelations. If you want to attend, please don't be discouraged. Put yourself on the standby list.
Stand By
1.)
2.)
If I don't have your cell, please PM it to me
Due to permits for large groups, this run is capped at 15 vehicles and 35 people.
If we fill up, I will start a standby list. Last year we had about 6+ last min cancelations. We will not run a second smaller group to circumvent the permit. I'm on the hook and held responsible with the Mojave National Preserve and don't want to poke a bear.
Permit application is $69. Once its writen, It has to be sent back and forth a couple times for amendments and drafts. I used 3 day USPS and I'm looking at about $100 so far. Some help would be appreciated.
I think $5 a truck is reasonable. If your okay with this please Paypal to dhpreciado@yahoo.com.

Friday Night Activities.
Last year we went exploring and found a cove/beach right off of the lake. We sat around and drank beer untill after dark. The we drove out of the canyons lights blazing. Is there any interest in doing something like that? Probably meet around 5 or 6 then go exploring.
-
More Details on Saturday......
Please don't be late or get too plastered on Friday night. We are a large group of 15 rigs, hours from home, and need to stay on some sort of schedule.
We will roll out of the AVI casino at 0800 on Saturday morning. The Parking lot of the AVI Casino has a gas station and a connivence store with snack, ice, last min RedBull's, M80's and Roman Candles. I plan on being there around 0730.
We will back track to the Colorado River and take pictures at the official start of the Mojave Rd. We will then head west towards home. Plan for long days in the saddle and please be open to an early start on Sunday. We will run deep on Saturday in order to have an easier Sunday. We will stop at Hole In The Wall camp site to empty any trash before we head into our camp.
We will be on the road no later than 0900 on Sunday. We will be waking up in the desert and it gets hot quick. Being cleaned up and ready to roll early will make your experience better.
Please do not do anything that will comprimise the fun factor of this run. Any fire arms will be handled responsibly and absolutely not be mixed with alcohol. Please do not put anyone in a position where they feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
The Mojave Rd is usually done in more time than 2 days. I plan on slow and steady progress with some exploring. If there is anything you would like to see, let me know. Time permitting, we will work it into the trip.
CB Channel will be 17
2M Simplex HAM will be 146.535
My wife and I are really looking forward to this weekend. We hope to make it a fun and memorable experience.

Interested.
April is better.
-
I am interested. With Mojave Road even March would be a great time of year....
-
I would be interested but April would work better too since MOAB is in May...
-
I am interested. With Mojave Road even March would be a great time of year....
OP updated, March is a good idea.
And because of Moab....May is out.
-
Right and because of GoneMoab I also would not vote May.
-
I'm down for whatever happens. As long as I don't get deployed anywhere.
-
I am interested. With Mojave Road even March would be a great time of year....
Good point Terry...March works for me too.
-
We did it in April last year and it was HOT! Last year was a dry year though. This year is much different and March might still hold rain so it's looking like April.
-
Interested. I am still bummed that I was not able to make this run with you guys earlier this year, so yes, very interested.
-
This sounds like fun. I'm liking march as well.
-
I'm in w/ wife and the little man.
-
I'm also in for this whenever it is, just set a date and I'll show up :-)
-
I'm in for March with the wife and 3 boys. Just need to find a bigger tent.
-
I think March might be a bit early and could fall into the desert rain season. Soda Lake will most likely be impassable and I don't want to deal with flash flood season.
-
I'm interested. Depending on work and school.
-
subscribed, interested in seeing the dates.
-
Hey Danny,
Mark & Nia will be there. We prefer April but may be able to do March. I was curious about something. Some of the old SCCX guys used to do the Mojave the road starting in Fenner off of 40 right outside of Barstow and cut through the road by the house where there is a memorial for an SCCX member who had a heart attack on the trail, then see the lava tubes and the mailbox and spend the night in the same spot we did last year and then come out on Sunday at ZZYZX Road at the 15. (Soda Lake was crossed Sunday AM) so we could meet up in Barstow on early Saturday morning, versus doing three days starting in Laughlin. Just some food for thought... it may be tough for some of us to get to Laughlin and then wheel for three days... Versus Barstow and Fenner and come out on Sunday at either Soda Lake ZZYZX or close to the trestles and train bridge and the ghost town off of the 15 ( maybe Calico? )
-
Yeah, I remember that run. I was able to make that one some 4 years ago. The Lava Tubes were cool 'cuz they only exist in two place on Earth: Mojave, CA and Australia.
I thnk that was the last time that Brian and his black 2000 X, one of the original club members, wheeled with us before he moved to the East Coast.

There are lava tubes in Idaho and Arizona as well. And probably a lot of other places that had volcanoes. And I'm pretty sure Brian didn't move to the east coast.

I have marked some vacation days for this so please add me to the list. I think there is a maximum number of vehicles allowed per group on Mojave Road, so I definitely don't want to miss out on this.

Seems like interest is there so I'll move forward. There is a limit of seven vehicles on the trail per group. Last year I pulled a permit for up to 15 vehicles and 30 people from the Mojave Preserve. I'll do the same this year. I'll update the opening later this week from home.
-
I'm down. March or April.
-
Be aware of the 7 (?) truck limit without a permit. The permit's take weeks to get ... the government moves slowly!
If the spring is wet Soda dry lake might be so dry and closed so you'll have to by-pass to Baker and hit more of the middle to east of the trail. The park got a really (really) good soaking two weeks ago so the desert ought to bloom pretty good this spring but who knows the timing.
We're likely going to do the trail either with the group or solo as we've done it every year but this one ... the truck was feeling ill under foot.
-
Danny/Toro did a great job in 2012 coordinating the necessary permits for the group.
-
As a matter of fact, he did a great job of organizing, leading, photographing and making sure everyone had a great time in general.
I hope this brings Randolf, Mark and Nina out of hiding. You guys are missed :'(
-
How hectic is the trail you'll be blazing? I'd like to have a 2" lift & new shocks installed by April but if not, would a stock 4x4 be able to rock Mojave (carefully of course)?
Randy, it seems you know Mojave and you know what I can get done in my X - please let me know what you think :D
If yes, then count me in for whatever dates are decided! If, of course, a larger group permit is acquired. If not, I'll be working even harder to get my sliders & lift set up!
-
Hey Joey,
You will have no problem stock. Make sure that you have the basic emergency gear listed elsewhere on this site. A CB is a must to make this run the most fun and may be a requirement if you don't have a ham radio. Sliders are always nice when you want to go off trail but not necessary on this run.
Toro, if I missed anything please jump in.
See you guys there ;D

Hey Danny,
We going to do the night run Friday too? ;D

Maybe I should sell the X, since all I ever do anymore is work and train and work... Boooooooo.

I would hold off on expanding. Last year we had lots of last minute cancelations. Worse case, we call it two groups, one with less than 7 trucks, so no permit needed. M2Cs

I completely agree. Last minute cancellations happen and yeah....life does pop up once in a while.

I went to book the hotel right now since I didn't have my credit card with me when I was researching prices before. I kept getting a higher price than what I had listed above, even with the coupon code. I searched around some more and finally found the link to lower prices. Here it is. www.totalrewards.com (https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-reservations/main/?propcode=LAU&view=ratecal) The 42" flat screen tv option was very tempting.
I was going to bring my pup with me, but then I realized I would miss out on all the Friday night festivities (and sparklers). So if anyone wants to puppysit a 138 lb. dog, lemme know. ;D

I thought I had. I'm definetly down to romp through the desert. Possibly camp out Thursday night in the old dale mining district just north of Joshua tree.
-
Don't worry about me guys. I've done Mojave twice. Right now, I have to kick but at work while there's butt to be kicked. OT means more money for parts so think long-term down the road . I am glad that someone is taking my spot though.

Saturday night potluck list added... please read and chime in or PM me.
-
Put me down for grill/stove/oven (yes an oven :-) ), firewood, side dish and desert.
Ham and cheese loaded baked potatoes for side and desert is a delicious surprise from my gf ;-)
-
You can put me down for taco soup since it may go well with the carne asada or burgers. Not sure which category it would go in. It will look almost exactly like this.
(http://i.ebayimg.com/t/1000-Dutch-Oven-Recipes-Cookbook-eBook-on-CD-GIFTS-Combined-Shipping-/00/s/NTA1WDc1OA==/$(KGrHqZ,!oQE8Vb65d4EBPI2yfJbsw~~60_1.JPG)
I'll bring a stove and something to heat it in as well. I'll post up when I think of what else I will bring.
-
I will talk to the wife tonight and find out what we can bring to the potluck.

This is reason enough to go one the trip. It looks so good.

Well, it looks like about 24 people for the Saturday potluck.
Have to figure out cooler space for all items, then I can commit to a potluck provision.
I too will have a stove for cooking, Coleman multi-fueler.
Put me down for rice, beans, and tortillas. Fresh guacamole too for a little extra zip.
I am in for firewood as well.
-
I was just discussing this with Mary (wife). No way everyone should carry enough for everyone. People should bring enough for 7-10 people. That way we won't have too much food left over and we all won't have to carry that much stuff on the trail.

In theory, if every one just brought twice what they could eat alone, we would have plenty for emergencies and sharing. Everybody would not get a 20 course meal but it would be one heck of a smorgasbord :P
I'm with Danny, let's not go crazy with the food. Maybe some of the group would rather like to make breakfast instead. This would help spread the labor and still count to the pot luck. my 2 cents
-
I don't drink much coffee, but I can tell you from past experience that if anyone can brew coffee in the morning, you will suddenly become the most popular person in the group. Or you all may want to bring those instant dunking packets for instant coffee. It's one of those things that when you wake up in the morning you will wish you had thought to bring along. Trust me, I've seen the desperation first hand. "Got any coffee, aww...come on man!!!, someone's got to have some coffee!" :P

Great post Marshann...
I have experienced this first hand. Arch'sX hooked me up with one of these during the first CANVAZ outing in Sedona, AZ. It was 19* in the morning, and I was THANKFUL for the warm cup of Joe each day.

Hey if you have a 20cup coffee maker at home.. I can sure see where Coffee is an essential for you ;D. Do you have Swedish roots by chance.
I would like to say that between you and me, we probably will have coffee covered in the morning. I am bringing ONLY a 10 cup coffee maker.

No swedish roots here, just an addiction to coffee.

This will be a great run, glad you can make it over from The Zone. :)

Danny has done a great job in his OP giving us the necessary details about this trip. Just spoke with Gal at Mojave Preserve. She's the gal that helped us out last year. All is good with documentation and everything is in order. It is officially being processed and we should have it with in the next two weeks. I'll keep everyone posted.
-
Awesome!!
-
RockinX is bringing a privacy shelter for use by everyone for changing and it will also be available for those who choose to bring their own personal portable latrine.
I will bring a "sit-down" porta-potty for use in said enclosure.
RockinX is bringing, 20 oz. heavyweight compostable hot beverage cups with lids (for use with soup and coffee), and 10-3/4 and 6-1/2 diameter heavyweight and extra strong compostable plates. Should be enough for everyone.
So do we have any bids for plastic utensils?
-
I'll give others the opportunity to chip in, and if noone steps up I'll gladly grab some plasticware for our adventure :)
-
So do we have any bids for plastic utensils?
Oops, I meant to say that I would bring those as well. I will even bring some sporks for those who have not adjusted back to using forks after their prison years. :P
I also have 2 large 50" x 108" polybacked tablecovers, advertised to "protect better than cloth and paper." We'll see how that claim holds up at the end of a night of sloshed and spilt beers. ;)

Sorry, I should have read the new post alert before hitting send.

Mary and I, generally, bring and wash our dishes and utensils. If your okay doing that, I'd recommend it.
-
My wife will bring some desert. Not sure what yet. I'll bring some firewood as well.
-
I will also be washing dishes, and bringing a sit down potty with privacy tent. And will be christening my trasharoo. can't ever have enough poopers with Mexican food :-D
-
Well I guess there are some of us who will eat on paper and some who prefer china. Your choice ;D
-
We will be bringing polish sausage hot dogs and stuff that goes on them. "We don't need no stinkin' sporks" :D

I will be cutting through the dessert on Friday morning. Randy (Randalf1) and I did this last year. We will meet some where in Joshua Tree area and head from there. We will only see about 10 miles of pavement the whole way thier. Let me know if anyone's down.

We can meet up a little further west and caravan in to this spot.
Just wondering....where might the meet spot a little further west be? I'd like to map my drive out to make sure I'm at the meet spot on time :)

The good, the bad and the ugly.
This morning I went to get a safety check and to make sure all my fluids, etc. were in order. Everything checked out perfectly (the good), except my idler arm needs to be replaced (the bad), which Calmini says they will need to order and it should arrive in 3-4 weeks (the ugly). :(
I guess that explains the recent clunk I've been getting.... I just thought it was a t-bar issue. Does anyone know if it is a problem making the trip with an idler arm with a lot of wobble to it? I don't suppose there is a way to put a plate or shim in there? Yeah, I know that's ridiculous but wishful thinking. Hopefully I will be able to get it replaced before the run.

How does it drive now? THE ROAD offers no real challenge unless you go looking for it like a few of us last year. And especially if we jump out at Afton Canyon that takes away 90% of the hardship we faced last year. But the big question is do you feel safe at freeway speeds getting there and getting home. If not, the ugly :D scream MOD Afternoon when you get the part and I'm sure you would have some volunteers be willing to help out. I think we have a new credo amongst the group WILL WORK FOR BEER ::)
-
First off, I still plan to go on the trip and I am confident that the IA will arrive in time, that I will have screamed MOD DAY! COME GET THE BEER!, that everything will be fixed ahead of time, and that this will be chalked up to pre-run drama.
ETA: I'm going to have it checked out somewhere else. There is no wobble in the steering wheel or any shimmy in the steering. The bushings may need to be replaced is all. I had previously upgraded to Bandit4x4's heavy duty bronze bushings, and it may be that they need to be replaced. I just ordered another set because I will probably need them either way. Bandit4x4 Heavy Duty bushings (http://bandit4x4.com/4x4-truck-parts/steering-parts/idler-arm-bushing-replacements/)
------------------
I don't notice any difference when driving at normal speeds. When I saw the idler arm movement when it was on the rack this morning, there was about 1/4 inch play or more and was very noticeable.
If the "road" does get the best of me to where it doesn't feel safe to go freeway speeds, I can always limp home. By then the part should be waiting for me if it doesn't show up beforehand. The shop said the IA won't break, but I suspect they were thinking under normal circumstances.
If it does break, I wonder if it will still be drivable and/or if it will damage something else. If it will still be drivable and won't damage anything else, then no worries. Bring it on! But again, I am as confident as I can be that Calmini will come through for me and will get the part to me before the run.
-
I wouldn't worry about it breaking. Worn bushings just cause play, do you have an idler arm brace?
-
I wouldn't worry about it breaking. Worn bushings just cause play, do you have an idler arm brace?
Yes, I have an idler arm brace. The idler arm is just a piece of metal so the only way I could think that it would need to be replaced is if it was cracked or stripped in some way, which it isn't. That's why it makes more sense that it is a worn bushing. However, I have the upgraded heavy duty bronze bushing, but I suppose it could still get worn eventually. My vehicle drives straight as an arrow and smooth. When I first wrote my message this morning, I wasn't even sure what an idler arm did. I've done a lot of research and have a much better idea now.
In the past I was once shown by a mechanic something similar to this where a part (can't remember what it was) had movement that he said was a big problem. I took it to a different mechanic and he said that part was supposed to move. So it sounds like I need another opinion, but I think you're right that it is play from the bushing being worn. I'll call Calmini tomorrow to cancel or put a hold on the $300+ part that I probably don't need. At least I am getting my drama out of the way before the trip, rather than during.
Mods can move these posts to somewhere more appropriate.... anywhere but Max Power's place. That place is scary.
-
What's an idler arm? Is that only on the 1st gens?
-
Yes its a first gen part.
-
Google is your friend... :D
Idler Arm Images (https://www.google.com/search?q=xterra+idler+arm+brace&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=q1JMUde6GYWSqwHd_4HwBw&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=653)
Looks like an integral part of the steering for Gen 1 Xterras, and that Calmini makes a brace/upgrade from the stock mounting point.

Yay! A trip with real "professional" geocachers. :)
Danny - Do you have a map that shows the route we will be taking? It won't be the first time I've embarrassed myself on this board if I find out there is only one route, which is the road as in "Mojave Road." I just received the Mojave Road book suggested in the OP and would like to read up on those sections that we will be visiting.
Max - Is GPSBabel GPSBabel (http://www.gpsbabel.org/tips/ac/route1.html) a good program to have the caches in the area automatically loaded onto my GPS receiver? I only have the Garmin CSx, but it should suffice until I get some more finds logged. And do you have any suggested caches we should check out along the way?
John - Do you have any specific caches in addition to the Lava Tubes cache that you have in mind so that I can look them up ahead of time? I understand a good portion of the area we will be covering is part of the National Preserve and caching is not allowed.
Maybe we can plan the geocaching portion of this trip out ahead of time so that we can see and research what we're in for? It might also be helpful for Danny so that when he looks in his rearview mirror and doesn't see anyone, he'll know we must have stopped for a cache and will be able to backtrack to find us. ;)

Maybe some of the group would rather like to make breakfast instead. This would help spread the labor and still count to the pot luck. my 2 cents
It seems everyone wants to hit the road shortly after waking up in the morning, so pre-made breakfast items would be best. The last time I made pancakes for a large group on a run, by the time the last person was served, everyone else was already packed up, aired down and sitting in their vehicles with their engines warmed up, ready to go. I still had to clean up the breakfast prep and do my own packing. I frantically tore down my tent, tossed everything in the truck, and the kitchen items got dumped into a big bag to deal with later. That is also the time I learned that I should try out a new stove before a trip. No matter how much you like bacon, when it is burnt to a crisp, it's really not all that good. :-\ :D
Edit: BTW, everyone was very helpful and kind to me on that trip. They knew I didn't have a clue what I was doing and were very understanding just in general. I'm sure they wouldn't have had a problem waiting for me. That is typical of SCCX members. I just didn't want to hold them up.

Im putting together an update with these details.
We will meet in the Parking lot of the AVI casino. There will be gas and ice (not for Ghost) available for us normal folks. We need to be ready to roll at 0800 sharp!

Aired down and ready to roll at 0800?

I think 5am on Saturday morning is a good meeting time.
I'd also like to free up my spot for someone else......I'd love to go but I have a lot going on and don't think I'll make it. I'd rather back out now so someone else has time to plan.
I still think 5am is a good meeting time :)
I'm out. Have fun.

Joshua Trees Mojave Desert:
But Barrows says what's even more interesting this year is what's happening to the trees.
"Well it's more than interesting, it's probably unprecedented in anybody's recent memory anyway," said Barrows.
He's talking about the incredible blooms. It's something people up here say they've never seen before on Joshua trees.
Virginia Willis, a 15-year resident, says she has never seen this before.
"I don't know what happened this year, but it's been an incredible display," said Willis. "It doesn't make any sense, but I guess nature is that way, we don't have it all figured out yet."
Barrows says he thinks it might be a stress response by the trees after several years of drought. But the really strange thing is that it's happening all across the Southwest at the same time.
Awesome timing ;D

Hey Guys, can Nilda and I join in on the Friday run too? She likes bumpy trails, and I like the flowers ;)
-
Danny, We worked our tails off at work and got ahead of the game so I got my boss to approve my vacation request for 4/19 so put me on the wait list and we see what happens...

What camp pots can everyone bring to make the rice and beans portion for Saturday night?
I've got the food supplies but my camp kitchen is lacking.

Will the rice be prepared or will we be cooking it?
And will the beans come out of a can? Or will we be making it?
I think that I have saucepans that we could heat stuff with. If we are preparing the rice then I guess we will need a covered frypan? Maybe?

Yes, we will be making the rice on the trail. It is packet Spanish rice, so add contents and boil then simmer covered for 7 minutes.
The beans will be canned and just open and heat up.
Sorry guys...not bringing my Calphalon stuff out to the desert! :)

What I thought we were going first class!!!!
Got ya covered Sauce pan for couple of cans of beans and covered frypan for couple of packages of Spanish Rice.
BTW, anybody bringing the Salsa for this culinary delight.
(Correction: I just saw SunnyvaleX if bringing Salsa)
-
If nobody is, the wife can make homemade salsa for everyone. Let me know.
-
If nobody is, the wife can make homemade salsa for everyone. Let me know.
I am bringing several bags of chips and a 4 lb bottle of salsa to share,..... but it is store bought salsa. (sorry, did not have time to make fresh salas) :)
I will not be offended if someone wants to bring fresh salsa. ;)
-
Ha, well I will run it by the wife, I shouldn't promise that she will make it. But if she is ok with whipping up a batch we can bring some.
-
Had a cancelation. Mark, your in if you want it.
-
No problem I was just going through my little checklist and after I posted my message I saw that SunnyValeX was bringing Salsa. And I think that should be plenty. BUT if someone would like to bring HOMEMADE SALSA, we certainly wouldn't mind.
-
We are still in. Packin the rack tonite so I can organize the interior load tomorrow night. Advice learned from last year: your interior load will bounce around if not organized and packed tightly. Bounced so hard the center of my dash popped out.....also you will have dust EVERYWHERE. Pack so snacks and fluids are easily accessible during stops/breaks. Have camp chairs where you can get to them without undoing everything else. Hmmmmmmmmmm...alcohol OR firearms.........I can do that. Looking forward to hooking up with trail partners from last year and meeting new folks. I will be the OLD guy in the white X. Or wait,. maybe that's Terry ;D
-
There's too many old guys in white xterras. Then there's ray getting all the old guys in trouble haha.

I got two new A/C hoses and the Freon's filled, so I'm good. I'll probably arrive late since I have to drop the pooch off in the afternoon for his own little mini-vacation at the dog resort before I can start packing. He's a big boy and takes up the entire back of the X.
I'm also bringing chicken tortilla soup for variety. And I'm leaving the taco soup mild so everyone can spice it up to how they want. I think we are going to have plenty of tortilla chips. ;)
-
Alright everyone. We all need to PM Mark (Kickintires) and tell him why it would be unforgivable to miss this on the basis of....I'll try and be ready.
-
OK, I'm in... Just need to get last minute preps out of the way.... Looks to be a great run! I may just plan to go simple on food and mooch on the dinner Saturday... I'm bringing an Apple Pie (since FrankB got me into wheeling, it's the least I can do). Glad I'm back on the list!
-
Room booked (again) just not at Harrah's as they now want 199.00 vs. the 49.00 I had before, so I'm next door at the River Palms...
-
We're still in! Mark and Nia.
The big difference is that we're a married couple now!
Danny and wife we will see you Friday am early at the crack of dark!
We will bring bratwursts and buns and ketchup and mustard for the whole group Saturday night. Plus some cold beer.
Danny I got a 20 spot for you for paying fees and planning all of this.
We plan to bull gard our way into our camping spot again too!
Lastly, no guys, no one can buy Nia's Schrockworks bumper and Warn winch and sliders off her truck so don't ask!

So who from San Diego County area is driving over on Friday during the day? I'm in for a caravan with whom ever is making the run. I expect that I could leave around 12:00 to 2:00PM give or take. I'll be running errands packing in the AM. Is it best to take the 40 from Baker? Never been to Laughlin before.
Give me a PM and we'll decide details...

Confirmed, the wife is making salsa. It sounds like we will be good on chips so I wont bring any, but we will whip up a batch of salsa to share.

Honestly, I feel so lame about what I did, I totally forgot about the fact that your CB mysteriously lost power. That is, of course, until you turned your truck on.
Hey, next your truck doesn't work, make sure you turn your ignition on before you call the mechanic :D
Thanks, I feel much better ;)

Ham frequencies for the trip.
Two closest towns, east to west are Laughlin and Barstow.
This should provide good coverage "just in case" as we roll along the Mojave Road. Program them now, or I will have them on my iPhone if you need freqs/PL's on "The Road."
Laughlin: 147.300+ PL: 156.7
KC6ZTB
Barstow: 146.760- PL: 123.0
KK6FL
Barstow: 147.810- PL: 162.2

Barstow: 146.970- PL: Open

Holy Cow!!! There's been a lot of chatter on this thread, and all good :D
Nilda and I are locked and loaded (Randolf) for this trip. Whooo Hooooo.
We can't compete with the plethora of salsas, but we will bring home made guacamole from the avocado capital; Fallbrook.
We are bringing polish sausage ala last year's feast to compete with Mark and Nia's bratwurst. It'll be a WWII wiener fest :P
Glad to see KickinTires got his priorities in order, and Hwy 40 is the way to go. If we miss the Friday morning Beaumont crew, we will join your caravan.
Toro, ignore what I just told Kickin, we will see you at 9am.... ;)
John, thanks for the #s and for making fun of the "Children's Band"
Looking forward to meeting AZXterra410 and the whole gang

I would like to let everybody know what my plan is for tomorrow.
I plan on pulling out approximately 10 AM tomorrow, putting me on the I-15 heading north from the 210 about 10:30 to 10:45. I then will be on the I-40 by 11:30-12:00, then straight to Harrah's Laughlin.
I will be monitoring:
CB Channel - 17
2M Simplex HAM - 146.535
With the occasional stop at the Sunset Ridge WINS repeater ( 147.210+ PL: 100.0) to see if anyone is in the area.
Cell - (714) 27One-357One
So if anybody would like a travel buddy, give me a shout out.
Or if anybody needs any help on the road, I'm only a Ham/CB/cell call away.

Xterra is packed and ready to go. Now I sit at work, avoiding work, hoping to get a chance to bail early.

Yes...all geocaches loaded. There are only four inside the preserve...one at the Lava Tubes.
Several outside from Laughlin...and another group near Afton on the west side.
