Hello
« on: October 26, 2015, 07:45:48 PM »
Hey there, Brand new to the Xterra. Recently purchased this 05 xterra 6spd. in Canteen green. It has 76xxx miles and is from what I can tell is stock -running boards/mud flaps. Dropped by the welcome center at the newx and then saw a link to this site so I figured I'd drop by and say hello since you are all close to home.
Took it out today for my first time off-roading. Took the short, safe, and easy route of Cleghorn, planning on going back next week to do the actual 14 mi. portion.
Anyway, I hope to see some of you around and maybe run together soon!
Thanks
Chris

Welcome. Be careful on some of those side shoots up there, they're hairy. Ha-ha If you head up during the weekend, post up here and some of us might be able to meet you. I wouldn't mind  hitting that trail again.

Welcome from Riverside/Moreno Valley! Where in California are you located? Inside the Xcursion thread there are a few things going on for the different regions of So Cal. And I'd be in to join in on a Saturday Cleghorn run.

Quite the rare bird you've got there... and previously unmolested?  Awesome color!

BTW, you're in Toro country.  A good place to be if you're thinking about modding your truck.

Thanks folks! such a cool community. I am very happy to be a part of it and hope I can contribute! And I don't want to get out of hand with the mods for now. I think I would like to put some sliders on it and a new bumper/hitch combo thing (not sure of the name) My father in law has a 1940's teardrop trailer My girl and I like to camp in from time to time. I am mechanically inexperienced for the most part so having the guidance and knowledge of an experience member would be a treat!

EDIT* added an image of the teardrop because it is cool.

And I don't want to get out of hand with the mods for now.

Famous last words. :) Just be warned, the "mod bug" has a highly contagious venom and once it bites you, you might as well take out a second mortgage in preparation.

I bought my Xterra as a daily driver that I could use for "some recreation," and I planned to take it very easy with the mods. But hanging around with the folks on this page and getting a taste for what the Xterra can do will make the modifications like an addiction! Here I am, just a year and a half later and I've completely given up and even bought a separate car for commuting. :)
