Welcome from the High Desert. And there are a few of us with over 200,000 miles on our rigs. The X is a reliable rig.

Welcome from San Clemente!!

Thanks! I don't know how you made it move like that, but it's cool.  :)

Sweet!  We've always wanted one and so far, it's performed above our expectations.  We plan on having our Little Mule until the wheels fall off!!  ;) ;D

And nice catch on the reference....

Romancing the Stone.  Back when Kathleen Turner was HOT!

And welcome to the group!

Romancing the Stone.

Well Done!

You already have nice trail list going there :)

Thanks!
Inscription/Black Canyons was our first excursion in Pepe.  It had never been Off-Road before by the previous owner (super obvious) and we wanted to see how it would perform as a Stock Xterra. Timed it just right this early Spring when the tiny flowers were in bloom and blanketed the countryside. It surpassed our expectations in performance, handling, etc. and where it earned its name.

Lyttle Creek (renamed Mud Flap Alley because this is where the stock mudflaps died) and Backside of Mt. Baldy (renamed Mt. Sumofabotch because that is where we got on a Black Diamond trail without knowing it, tried really hard to break the rig, and where cussing might have been involved). :o

RattleSnake and Burns Canyons was an amazing ride and where the stock runners got crunched and had to be removed. (Yes we carried them out - Tread Lightly is our motto)  ;)

All this to say, we've already gotten into harder shyte than anticipated; which is why the armor mods have been moved up to the front of the list...

100k miles is impressive!! It gives me hope for ours!  We want this to be a long-term relationship with our 2009....  ;D
That's on top of the 90k miles it had from the first owner, so I have about 190k on the odometer total and it's still running well. :) If I remember correctly GeoTaco/John's 2nd Gen X had 200k before he sold it for the Taco?

Thanks!

Very cool! From that list I've only tried Burns Canyon so far, just this past weekend; it was a nice surprise to see it lot more scenic than I expected. :)
Yeah, I would go for some sliders first, then armor how you would want to from there.
If you haven't already, another very common mod is to remove the rear sway bar or install quick disconnects: whether to permanently remove them both depends on model year and driver preference, but at least for my 1st Gen, I removed it and didn't feel any loss in on-road stability. I never have it too fast to really find out anyways. :)

Sliders on!  We went with http://white-knuckleoffroad.com/nissanxterra.htm.  Since he's local(ish), we were able to pick them up directly to save on shipping.  John and Natalie provide excellent customer service (so rare these days) and his craftsmanship shows in the product.

Except for when you're keeping up with my speed racer butt on the paved roads through the Mojave Preserve  :D

Nice looking Xterra!

You will be very pleased with the White Knuckle sliders, great fit and product.

Yes, as Alex stated, the Ghost was an 05' that racked up about 220K before I sold it.

Higher mileage Xterras do great, just be prepared (as with any vehicle) for the additional maintenance.

Also...as your X gets heavier (mods, armor, etc) your wallet gets lighter. ;)

Smart move buying an 09' and saving some money for the off pavement upgrades. :)

Thank you!  Yes, so far we are very pleased with the WK Sliders. I'd totally recommend them.  :D

And it's nice to hear X's get up into the 200K with maintenance!  That's our plans for Pepe - it's our goal to keep him a really long time.

Lighter wallet?!? Don't I know it! My bank account has a cavernous hole in it from all these Mod purchases!

But it's budgeted for, just waiting for them to show up so we can put them on.......  ;D
