Hey everyone,
So I have always wanted a Xterra. Well last night I made the plunge and traded in my 07 Mazda 6 for a 09 Xterra 4WD X. I couldn't be happier. I look forward to meeting some of you guys and hitting up some of the places that I can while I am still stock and new.
I am a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton.
I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the club, good to have you join. The runs are a blast and every one here is great if you need advice on your X or general question you will always find help here.
-
Welcome.
Be sure to join us on Nov 20th (http://www.sccxterra.com/smf/index.php/topic,805.0.html) if you can.

Welcome to the club Bryant.
-
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
Frank, I would love to, but I will be out of town for work. If anything is going on between Dec 9th and the 22nd I will be there in a heart beat.
-
I'm sure there will be a run during December.
-
Welcome Bryant and thank you for your service.
-
Hope you're as happy with your new purchase as I am with my 4-year old one Bryant.
Thank you for serving our nation.
-
Don and Paul, thank you. I honestly couldn't be happier.
-
Welcome aboard.

Bryant,
I generally make several trips out to Anza Borrego in December, all of them on routes you could do easily in a stock Xterra. Anza Borrego is not very far for you from Camp Pendleton. Keep an eye on the Xcursions Forum, I'll usually post something there. If you have a specific Saturday or Sunday that you want to head out either post something up or send a PM.
For the last few years we've done a December trip out to 17 Palms, the Pumpkin Patch, and the sandy washes between Arroyo Salado and Font's Point. I'll probably set that up again for this year, after I check with Paul to see if he has anything planned. We start out going to 17 Palms, and end up at Font's Point at sunset. It's an easy day-trip route that you can do in your stock 4WD without any problems, and quite scenic.
If you do plan to do any off-roading, you may want to take off those step rails before they get banged up. You can generally find someone willing to pay $100 or so for them, if they are in good shape. I would suggest taking off the mudflaps as well.
-
Frank,
Thank you for all the advice. That is exactly the short of things I was looking for. I will keep my eyes on the board. I can't wait to meet up with everyone and make a trip or two.
I have been reading a lot in the past two days. I do plan on taking the mudflaps and step rails off before I do any off-roading.
I appreciate all your advice. Hopefully I will get a chance to meet you in December.
-
There's a trail near Calico ghost town that will take those step rails and mud flaps off for you. :P
-
Nice color, and welcome aboard!
-
Welcome aboard, and heck you dont even need to leave base to wheel. The tank tracks right on the beach front. just dont get caught. I thought of running them.
-
Welcome!
-
If you plan to get rid of or want to upgrade to sliders I would gladly buy them from you. Also if you up in north Los Angeles let me know we could do runs just noorth of L.A.
-
Boomer, you want my step rails?
-
Yeah if you plan to upgrade or remove'm let me know i'll buy them from you. The offroad model does not come with them and my wife is kinda short (5'3") so she whant them.

My first run with SCCX was Rattlesnake Canyon last February, and the step rail/mud flap removal MOD was performed quite nicely on this run! :D

Seriously, good call on removing them and getting a little extra $$$ to begin the MOD addiction.
Frank and Paul are fantastic ambassadors for this Club, and welcomed me with advice, tips, trip planning, and even helped with some great used parts for my Xterra.
Congratulations on purchasing a really great off road capable rig, you will love driving it in the local mountains and deserts.
Hope to meet you in December on an Xcursion, and I echo the others gratitude with respect to your service and protection of our freedom. Thanks! ;D

Ghost, I will take everyone's word for it. They are coming off this weekend. :)

Here she is. Minus the step rails and mud flaps! Still needs a wash to get that old dirt off though.
-
Looks great Jackson...time for some sliders and 285's! ;)
-
Ha ha, I just got the wife to approve bumpers, sliders, skid plates, etc. Now I just need to come up with the money.
-
Sliders first, then skids - bumpers are optional.

I concure.

I will take your advice. New order: sliders, skids, and bumpers. ;)
-
Welcome and thanks for your service. If ya ever need an extra hand in wrenching let me know.
-
Ruination Fan, no problem and thank you. I am pretty sure we are actually neighbors.
-
Welcome to the club!!! You can also remove your rear sway bar. Free mod.... Also.....Happy Birthday from one Marine to another!!!!! Semper Fidelis!!!!!

Hi there! Definitely take off the rear sway bar. it will allow the rear axle to travel more freely and for daily driving, you won't really notice it's missing. And before you buy bumpers or skids, tires are the next most important thing to get. they will give your X that tough look.
-
You will also need a set of FRS radios (with privacy codes)or a CB radio to communicate on the trails. And an SCCX sticker.

I'm going to pull my rear sway bar off this weekend.
