The bump stop just fell off!!!  He told me he powered over a ridge so fast he caught 30 feet of air and everyone on the trip just thought "that's the way Jake rolls!"  Then he mentions this was after 10 miles of major rock crawling that makes the Rubicon Trail seem like a paved freeway.

Several have done it through the floor and have posted images on the new X.  Its about an 8 inch hole in sheet metal that is not structural.  I guess the 1st gen Xterra came with the port for this purpose. The guys that have done it just fab a piece of alum. as a new cover, liquid gasket and a few machine screws and its good as new.  The hole goes in about an 1-2" from the jack and tools holder and is completely under the carpet.  Handy for later when the FSU goes again or the pump goes out.

The bolts under this X are most just rounded nubs with little or no threads left.  It spent 3-4 years in the northeast, I'll never understand how anything lasts long out there.  I already have about 6 bolts to drill out/extract from the original skid plates.

Old dog...new tricks.

Carry on. 😊

Joe...Jordan...Randy...Erik...Danny...Tim...any thoughts on this?

Spidey sence tingling......
I've dropped a tank a few times and its not that bad once you remove the bolts. Just make sure its empty. I can't imagine cutting the floor to access the FSU considering how easy it is to drop the tank.

So I have a bad CV on one side and a bad wheel stud on the other. Figure I will tackle it on Sunday.

Started with the wheels stud.
Then discover the upper uniball is starting to go out. Not bad for 60k of abuse.
Got everything off then the lower control arm bolt won't come out.

So a word to those doing titan swap. Anti seize your control arm bolts.

Next I move to the drive side for the CV joints. I have an Aluminum spacer between the diff and CV steel bolt and AL spacer over time equal galvanized to the bolt... Argh. So I am stuck here now.

Since I am taking everything off, I am going to rebuild my shocks with new seals / fresh shock oil and new lower ball joints. The delrin bushings are in great shape after all the miles as well.

Now who wants to get greasy. Also if you want your shocks rebuild or know you have a leak speak up. We can knock it all out as a group.

Switched up to steelies. It's definitely a different look. I'll be buying black lugs too.

looks great man, and I'm gonna do that as well....not so stoked on the added degree of difficulty the fancy wheels bring to the table

Oh, my fancy wheels have rock rash on every single one, if that's what you're referring to.

nah, between the special key I need to get my lugs off, to how the lugs have been stripped, I'd rather have steelies to make it easier to take a wheel on/off...esp when in a crunch

Ah, gotcha, that makes sense. It is nice to have normal lugs again.

well, it's nice to have a reason to post in this thread...

Over the weekend, at the epic MOD DAY AT DUFFMAN'S, I definitely came up...

Installed:

Front ICON 2.5's

Rear Radflo 2.0's

PRG adjustable shackles

Timbren Bumpstops in the rear

many (6?) new lug studs

Sawed off via grinder:

Front sway bar

Gremlin discovered and discarded:

electrical issue keeping my light bar/bumper lights from working

All in all...she is good to go!!!!

Thanks again to everyone in attendance.....I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS STUFF WITHOUT YOU

Christiaan:  How are the Icons treating you? spring rate ok?

Jeff: I wonder what valving and length they went with for the rear.  I have been running the 5165 Series 9.9" Travel 255/70 valving in the rear for a year now, which is the universal version of the 5160. I kinda wish I would have gone with the stiffer 360/80 valving, mind asking or maybe I will give them a call.
