It looks like they have redesigned them a little. What the switch on the top of the box?

That's the wireless switch. The remote can be either wired or wireless. If you operate it in wired mode, you simply plug it in and it works (the plug is just below the switch). If you want wireless mode, you have to flip a switch on the remote and that switch on the box.

Gotcha... A wireless switch could be a nice thing to have for sure.

If it fits, it sits.

AWESOME! Details!?! What brand/model is it? Did you buy it new, or find a deal on a used one?

It's an Edgestar 43qt.

I bought it from Openbox Direct.
I put a shortcut to the search terms I wanted on my browser and checked it several times a day for a few weeks.
Finally, last Thursday night, the size fridge I wanted popped up.  I immediately bought it with a credit card to secure the fridge.
In the morning, I called to get some more specifics about it.  The guy I spoke with told me that someone ordered a 60qt fridge from Edgestar  and they sent this one by mistake.  The person they sent it to opened it, realized it was the wrong one and sent it back.  Since the box was opened, they can not sell it as new so it went to Openbox Direct and I snagged it.

I paid $279 shipped for a "used" (new) fridge!
It still has the manufacturer's warranty, too.

I'm super happy with it!

Now I just need to get my battery situation figured out.  Oh, and a way to mount it!

Compact Appliance has them in stock from $450 to $460 regularly.  I had the patience for once in my life to actually wait for a deal.

Sweet deal man! I wonder if another deal like that would pop up between now and the November Death Valley trip?!?

I can't say.  It took me 3 weeks to finally happen upon that one.
But, realistically you could wait until about a week prior to departure and if you don't catch one, just get the Fridge fromm Compact Appliance or Amazon for $449

I just gutted my second fridge Steve and Jordan.
   We now have a spare
-power supply
-power inverter
-power harness
-digital display
-side carrying handles x2
-top door hinges x2
-front latch
-compressor cover
-random screws
Unless the compressor takes a crap, we've got all the parts we need.
