It's Summer time
« on: January 15, 2011, 09:13:44 PM »
As many of you may know our dog and travel companion Trixie (the Wonder Dog) passed away on February 4th of last year. I think Trixie made about 25 club runs during her four years with the club. Sort of knocked the wind out of us when she passed, she was old, nearly deaf, nearly blind, and there at the end she could only might right hand turns ... but it wasn't easy losing her. We mourned her this past year and haven't been nearly as active with the club. It just seems so weird without a pesky Eski underfoot.

We thought it was time and rescued a one year old female named Summer today. She's a bundle of hyper energy as the Eskimo dogs are puppies for longer than most breeds. She's got a nice gentle personality and can't sit still. She did well in the truck bringing her home and we hope to get her out on the trail as soon as possible - maybe next weekend for a Rattle Snake Canyon or Bee Canyon run as both of these places are in my "backyard" out here in Riverside. Let me see if she's trail rated!

We're trying to ween her off of her five cup of coffee a day addiction ...

Congrats Paul.  By the way, is Summer at lot bigger than Trixie, or is it just the camera angle and lens doing that?

I just had to put my "trail dog" to sleep recently, so I can sympathize with what you went through.  Congrats on the new family member.

Awesome Paul.  I look forward to meeting Summer.
I'd rather be happy than right any day.

She's about the same size of Trixie - a miniature - but I think she's about an inch or so smaller. She's making up for it with energy. She woke up last night at 3:15 AM and wanted to play ... running circles around the backyard at full sprint. About a half an hour later I managed to get her settled down enough to go to bed. Yawn ... I'm tired!

I like sammiches.  And bacon.  Sammiches with bacon.  And chips.  Lots of chips.

Paul,
Summer looks like a handful...I grew up with one, so I understand the 10-yead puppy stage (or maybe it just felt like that).  If you guys are heading out to Rattlesnake Canyon this weekend and want company, let me know.  I waxed the X yesterday, and it's way too shiny!
I love it when a plan comes together!

Very nice Paul, taking in a rescue is a great way to make the transition.   :)

Once again, I must state for the record: We are not a club, we are enablers for your addiction.
