Hi- Lift cast/steel jack vs. Smitybilt off-road jack:

Is there a big difference between these two brands for a basic off-road jack?

I didn't know Smittybilt made a jack.  I looked it up and it looks just like a Hi-Lift.  If that's the case I would go with the original.  And I did.

I think it's one of those "to each his own" kinda thing.

Hi-lift is well-known... comes it different lengths, colors and finish... but is pricey.

Smittybilts only come in 54" and in gray/black powder coat finish and was less than $50 (with tax & everything) when I got mine (on sale).

I asked the guy in 4WP as far as comparison with Hi-Lift... he said it's practically the same. You get a longer length with Smittybilt and comes with a free isolator with the price. Sounds like a winner to me!
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst!

Yup! All servicable parts, even accessories, base plate, etc. made for the Hi-lift fits the Smittybilt.

I might get their deflators too... $39 compared to Stauns. I add the $25 off from 4WP (expires 4/1/09)... it comes out to about $15 + tax.
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst!
