GONE Moab 2015
« on: February 25, 2015, 09:39:48 PM »
Wondering who is going this year and if they would be interested in a convoy out there? I'll be leaving the San Diego area on the 15th and staying that night in Nevada. Going to head out in the morning of the 16th. Trailering so I'll be on cruise mode across the desert.

Guess it's a weak showing from Southern California this year...

I've noticed, as a group, we have become a little more overland campers and a little less rock crawler.

I've always wanted to do MOAB, but it's just such a commitment; I would want to do the entire week to experience as many trails as possible, plus the meet at the end...

It's a bucket-list thing for me....I'll make it eventually

There's a discussion in the excursions forums about "gone".  I am going and as per my post on the goneMOAB forums, I'm leaving on Saturday to drive up.  As I'm coming out of the Running Springs area, I can meet up at 138 / I-15.

I'm leaving out of Vegas area on Saturday early in the morning. What time do you think you might be going through there?

Probably in the 1030-1100 time frame if I leave my house at 7am.  The drive to Moab from my place is advertised as 9.5 hours.

I might get a little earlier jump on it so I will get into Moab earlier in the day, but let me see as things get closer.

Just saw this post Danny...and would agree.  The desire to take the DD's out and break them diminishes after a while...although, there are some really great "non damage" trails in Moab.

Fin's N Things comes to mind for sure.

It is a financial commitment as well...time off from work, gas, food, lodging.  I think we have averaged between $1,200 and $1,600 each weekly trip we have taken there.  Cost savings was between camping and condo lodging.

Getting ready to make the trip across to Moab. I wish I was the photographer JFanaselle is for this upcoming event but I'll do my best to post a few pics of the trip. I might be able to even sneak in a few of Gone-Shennnagens onto the site. Should be a great event, I wish more from out here were going!
