Hey Erik,

Where did you stay last year?   Was it MOAB VALLEY RV RESORT?

Hi all,

Just joined the Forum and found this amazing post.
I will be in Moab May 15th through May 20th.
Purpose of my trip is adventure... Wilderness Camping, Hiking and Off-Roading  ;D.

Wondering if it would be a great opportunity to meet the club for Gone Moab?

Looking at the GoneMoab Trails Description my X should be able to handle all Green and Blue Trails :)

Good morning Ricastillo85...Moab is a beautiful place and a 4 wheeler's mecca for sure.  There are a few of the SCCX crew headed to goneMOAB this year, so reaching out to them for some help would be recommended.  I believe that Lupin One, Celt, and SoCalXTerry are all going this year.

PM or message them here in this thread.  Also visit the goneMOAB forum, and register for the event (it does require registration to run the trails) through links there.

Good luck, and welcome to SCCX!

I missed the one in 2012, as I sold my Frontier...

But, really wanting to go this year and I *think* it may be a family adventure, which would be great!

Thing is, I want to camp and want to take my youngest son camping...Wife and older son want to have a room. So, was wondering if you guys all camp in the same area and if so, is there a lot of people usually? Don't mind if there is, just wondering what to expect...

I went to Moab on a similar trek (but at that time it was for ZR2's, even though I brought my ZJ 5.9 [had a ZR2 prior]) and it was a lot of fun! One thing I do remember is the wind storm that sort of came out of nowhere, along with a little rain. So, be prepared! Curious what sorts of storms, if any, have occurred in the past events?

If you are going to go and camp there contact Pyrofox79 through PM he can't go but has a reserved camping spot at the Canyonlands he will give up. Lots of guys camp together in the main campgrounds because of the ease of getting into town and buying food, etc. You can camp at Area BFE for free but it's primitive camping so you are aware of that. If you want to get a hotel room for your wife I would start checking quick because it's the tourist season there and the rates jump up fast.

Weather wise you can expect anything. Last year when I got there before the event it was super hot. It started to cool off and on some of the runs we got pretty strong winds with lots of dust. Other days were calm and very comfortable. At the end the higher elevations got lots of snow/hail while the rest of the area and town got a good rainstorm. On the way home there was lots of hail storms so plan for everything if you are camping and tie down your tent especially since you will be out wheeling during the day. Nothing worse than coming back to a thrashed campsite with soaked sleeping bags because of lack of basic planning. If you do go you can be assured that no matter you have a stock vehicle or something that can go full retard you will have a great time with a lot of decent folks out on the rocks.

Awesome time at GONE.  I've got a lot of pics up on my FB.  Looking forward to next year.  Already plotting...

Came away with a nice new compressor, Warn Recovery kit, and Tent for the back of the X.
