Was reading thru a "checklist' of things before going to small trip or excursions and one of them was to make sure I have both front and rear recovery points. My X didnt come with a rear hitch, i only have the factory tow hook in the front. Since I will be taking the fire road ( mostly) should I worry about not having a hitch as the rear recovery point?
If worse comes to worse, I can get creative with soft shackles and tow straps. ;)

I've been looking for a good reason to test out the new lift and tires, count me in. I don't have comms though. What's the best/cheapest route to go for this?

Glad you can make it.  We should have a good crowd.  Regarding the comms, a simple portable CB is allyou need. See the posts below.

I agree. There will be a good mix off experienced and beginner wheelers, so there will be some good trail lessons to learn for those who are new to the dirt and some bad habits to share from those of us that just fake it> ::) :D

Where are we meeting up at on Sunday?  Is there a parking lot, or a staging area?  I've never been out there.

As many trucks as there are going to be, we'll need to meet on the west side of the freeway. The trail pretty much begins immediately to the east when you exit. We can meet under the bridge or in the parking area west of the freeway. If you're airing down, do it there while we're waiting for everyone to show up.

You are correct. As of right now, I am closely watching the weather.  I'm not real comfortable hitting this trail of there is a chance of a thunder storm and significant rain.  Too many wide open spots on top for lightning with slippery narrow passes heading down.

Agreed, of course it would try to rain on a weekend we have two events going on. Even if there is no lightning, rain completely changes the dynamics of the trail. I'll be watching too.

+1 on the weather watch. This would be my first time out there and while I'm sure it would be good experience, I'm not so sure that me being inexperienced on the dirt....mud with my X would be wise.
