It's the same route both times just different directions.

ok cool. well count me in for the East to West. I do like the idea you threw out on starting at laughlin and basically come back home thru the Mojave.

Ha! I was just going to mention that little tidbit of info. Don't worry, I have chronic CRS so I understand how it happens.

Are you going to post up minimum of what will me needed? Comms, tires and what not. I'd to know to gather up if I need to or to know if my cb will work out fine.

CB is fine, most are on a HAM but it's definitely not a requirement even though some on TNX think it is. As far as minimums there really isn't much other than some basic recovery gear, fix any major issues with your vehicle before the trip, an extra 5 gallons of fuel as you may use more than a summer trip. At least two bundles of firewood (This is a big one). Enough proper gear to camp in temperatures varying from 60's to 20f range with rain, snow, muck, mud and sandstorms always possible. Enough food/water/beer to get you through as on this trip we don't do group meals it's fend for yourself. The biggest requirement is bring a good attitude as the guys going are a hoot and there is a lot of laughter along the way with a guaranteed session of Fire Jenga to develop.

Also, read through the older MR threads, there is a ton of info in them. One thing I learned on this trip is to keep tools accessible. My tire tools and hilift were buried under the seat and I couldn't get to them to change my flat.

I brought 12 gallons of water, plus a case of bottled water. I killed the bottled water by the end of the second day because the wife and I drink a lot of water. We were refilling bottles with the water out of my jugs, but it was tap water so it didn't taste great. I'll bring more bottled water next time.

Nights in the Mojave during the winter will be downright chilly, you'll want a cool weather tent and/or sleeping bags. Our tent didn't block the wind at all and our first night out this last trip it was chilly because of the wind.

Buy a yellow fuel nozzle if you have Rotopax, however, I do believe they can also be used on other fuel cans. I'll put the link below. I went with 2, 3 gallon Rotopax and I was below a quarter tank by the end of the second day. I put the cans in and it just put me over half a tank.I have a heavy foot and I learned I need to be easy on the gas. If we were out there longer, I'd pack an additional cheaper, larger tank from Wally world.

Ima share this thread that found very interesting, very helpful for something like this trip and you don't wana go out and spend an arm and a leg trying to have the coolest toys. I'm going to have an identical set up to sleep in my X and possible the Arb awning set up if I have my roof rack built up. Keeps me rolling with a budget to get my other mods if you wana gather some ideas from this thread.
