Myself and girlfriend will be there, with the possibility of friend in a 2wd Frontier joining us. We plan on camping Saturday night in BB somewhere. Not sure what we are bringing to the potluck yet. We are also bringing mountain bikes with the intention of getting a ride in after the run. Would anybody like to join us? Or know of any good trails near where the run ends? Most of my BB riding experience has been on the mountain in the bike park area, not familiar with other trails in the area.

I was planning on camping out and doing some mountain biking on saturday, then heading home after the trail run on sunday.  I will more than likely just be camping out somewhere along one of the forest roads near skyline dr. or somewhere closer to 2n02.

Not much reason to grab a yellow post if you can't have fires and I'm not big on campgrounds(they seem to all be full).

Thanks for the replies guys. Skyline is one I am familiar with. If the run ends in the desert I may have to see if we can get there earlier Saturday and get our riding in then. As for the camping I have a spot I like to go to off one of the forestry roads fairly close to town. I too dislike campgrounds...

^Also a great group to wheel with if you have not had the pleasure.

Can you post in there?  If so, can you have him share the HAM frequency with us?  It would be nice to have it to de-conflict traffic on trail.

I'm going to try to get in on this run.  Are most of you coming back via the 62 to the 10?

Edwin, the main trail should be low impact and 2WD friendly. If you wanted to come up a little early, we could even swap those shocks right on the spot.

You guys should come but I know what you mean,  we've got a 3 month old who will be staying home with mama this time around but I'll be bringing my 3 year old.

There is no definitive time, but it'll probably take a few hours to get from the trailhead to the lunch spot. My guess (and hope) is that everyone is aired down and on the move by about 10:00 am. If we move at a nice slow pace with a couple stops, we should be at the lunch spot around 12:30-ish (if we're having lunch where I am recommending). If we use my recommended spot, then anyone in the group can do as little or as much exploring or wheeling around that area as they want, or you can simply hang out with the group and enjoy food. The trails are all very simple with no major obstacles, but there are plenty of them zigging and sagging through the area to check out.

From the lunch spot, it will take about another 60 mins to get down to Hwy 62 in Yucca Valley (going through Pioneertown), and about another 90-ish minutes from there to get into the Temecula area (so roughly 2 hours back to Esco for you). If it helps, my plan is to hang out around the lunch spot for a couple hours and depart for home no later than 3:00 pm. That would put me home around 5:30 in Murrieta.

Thank you for the time break down. We are in for the potluck. We will be bringing brownies and cookies since they keep well for the weekend.

Thanks for the breakdown Joe.

I'm also debating on bringing the wife and our 1 year old daughter.

How hard would it be to find the main highway from the lunch spot? I have a hockey game that night at 7:05pm. If I skip the potluck/lunch, would I have trouble navigating the rest of the trail to the next main highway?

My game is in Cerritos, right off the 91 & 605.

Dale and I are also staying in Hanna Flat, starting Friday night. Look for us, we'll have to get together.
