So, I've need one of my fox 2" Emulsion shocks rebuilt, or need to figure out how to rebuild it on my own.  Any of you ever done this before and have any words of wisdom to share?

its pretty easy..

make sure you let all of the nitrogen out of the shocks before taking apart.( lol ask me how I know shock oil everywhere in Garage)

Place everything down on a clean rag in order you take it off.

why the rebuild ? leaking? or re-valve?

DW - thanks for the head's up.  The reason I'm rebuilding is because one of the two shocks will not rebound all the way and is much softer than the other.  It only rebounds out about 7" as opposed the to 10" it's capable of.  So, I'm guessing it's leaked some oil out?  Or could it be that it's leaked the nitrogen out?  I've not done a whole lot of research on this yet, just getting started now.

Also, where do you go to get your shocks refilled w/ Nitrogen?

are the shocks on or off the truck?

Sounds like you might not have enough/any nitrogen in the one... you can replace with compressed air up to 180psi
You would know if it had leaked any of the oil.. it would be all over under the truck.

You don't want it to extension all the way out. You want to have the shocks limited (with limit straps) about an inch from full extension other wise in time you risk ripping the shock shaft out of the shock body.

We have a nitrogen tank at our race shop. I just scheme on nitrogen there. most off road shops will have nitrogen.

Where are you at ?

Shocks are still in the X

Located in San Clemente.

I can get up to about 160 psi using my compressor at home.

I know I'm not leaking any oil out of the shock at this point, no mess.  So I'm thinking you right, probably just don't have any nitrogen in there.

And... I need limiting straps.  Didn't want to put them on because I wanted the extra 1" or so of droop.  But, if I'm wrecking my by not having them, then I'll do what's right and put them on.

Just picked up the latest OffRoad magazine this past weekend and didn't find a rebuild article in there.  Do you know if they've got an e-version of it available?
