My corny attempt at off-road related art, featuring Garmin's idea of where we were, taken today in Chariot Canyon, after we came up the Goat Path of Doom from S2 in Anza Borrego.  That trail up the switchbacks from Oriflamme Canyon used to be pretty good, but it's rather rutted out and eroded now. Maybe Mitch has a picture or two of the climb.

That is a great picture Frank.  The road was a little bumpier than I remember it being.  When I got home I had to ice down my spleen hole. Sad  I'll post some pictures later.

Ok, here are some of our pictures from yesterday.  It was a great day to be out.  We drove Oro Flamme and Charriot Canyons and then Grapevine Canyon, Jasper Trail and Culp Valley Road.  The trails were fairly tame with a few fun spots.

We stopped by the Slabs in Oro Flamme Canyon.

Parking was tight.

This is near the top of Oro Flamme Canyon.  I didn't get any pictures of the rough spots.

The road was pretty smooth.  Even Kevin made it.

These next few pictures are pretty graphic and are not for the faint of heart.  They show a Jeep XJ in distress.  Prepare yourselves.

It doesn't look bad here but this was only the beginning.

Here some people try to help but they just make it worse by pointing out bad lines and pouring bottled water on the rocks.

Here it looks like he is almost free but no, he was hung up on his front diff.

At this point I was sure the Jeep was doomed.

Safe and back on level ground.  This is one lucky Jeep.

BTW the rest of us took the bypass.

And best of all, we found wild melons!

So (I'm channeling Rachel here) the jeep needs 37s?

Looks like a good day.

I clearly heard "35s" during the fiasco.
