Denise and I are going to be up in Big Bear for the weekend so I thought I would try to organize something. Here go’s:
Meet Time/ Spot: Saturday August 21st    10:00am
Location: Starbucks 42140 Big Bear Blvd. Big Bear Lake, Ca. 92315.  It is located in the Vons shopping center. GPS: N34 15’ 03.0  W116 53’ 03.1
(Don’t forget to top off your tank before arriving at the meet spot.)

From here we will head out on Hwy 38 to Trail 2N01 we will stop so anyone who wants to air down can do so.
At 5.8 miles we will take 2N89Y
At the junction of 2N61Y there are the ruins of an old arrastra we can stop to check out.
We will continue on to 2N02 where we will turn left and head towards the rose mine. If  everyone agrees that we need something a little more challenging we can take 2N70Y and end up back on 2N02.
We will stop at the Rose Mine to explore and have lunch.
From there we will take 3N03 to HWY 18. Start to finish is approx. 20 miles.

Reference: Guide to So. Cal. Backroads & 4WD Trails, No. 42, Pg. 159
This is not going to be a speed run or rock crawling event , but more of a off road cruise stopping along the way to explore and take pictures of whatever catches our eye.

Depending on the time, we will only be 0.3 miles from Jacoby Canyon Trail. It’s a total of 3 miles in distance so we might be able to explore it also.

Check out the Xcursion Guidelines at the top of the Xcursion page.
Please post up if you are interested or have any questions.
Hope to see you there.

Good suggestion Don.  I like that area.  Makes for a fun day.  I'm going to try and make it.  I think I'll be up in your neck of the woods Friday evening so maybe we can coordinate a convoy.  I need to get my CB reired but I have the ham.

Hi Jeff. We are going up Thursday night and spending 3 nights at a bed and breakfast. We are going to do our idea of a triathlon. Fri.: Trail running. Sat.: 4 wheeling. Sun.: Mountain biking. I don't have a CB just the FRS and Ham. Hope you can make it.
PS: If anyone wants my cell # PM me.

Thanks for the reminder.  Almost forgot.  I think I'll pick up a year pass since they're only $30 and it'll encourage me to join more Xcursions.

If there are two people going that don't have an adventure pass you can buy two passes together for $35.
