im getting 6 Hella 1000's (4 on top, 2 on the bumper) and was wondering what type of relays to get. theres a deal and a half at my local Kragen, 2 hella 1000's for 80bux, and definetly jumping on the chance. right now im running some $15 Harbor Freight 55w lights with no relay and kinda want to be safer with these 1000's

Typical automotive relays are 20A and 30A good for 240 watts and 360 watts respectfully. Standard operating procedure is to run about 20% on the safe side so that 20A relay is good for 200-210 watts worth of lights and the 30A for about 300 watts worth. I run four relays - two for the roof lights, one for the bumper fog lights and one for the backing lights.

Autozone has a Pilot brand univ. wiring kit for aftermarket lights that comes with relays, switches, wires, and stuff.  If you buy the Hella's they should come with their own wiring harness kit.  Keep in mind that the light output of the 1000's is the same as the 500's, just physiclally bigger, light beam will be the same.  I compared my 500's with my friends 1000's and the illuminate exactly the same.

Get the lights that you want to get.  Don't take my word for it.  4wheelparts is on the expensive side for anything.  Buy the lights on ebay or look at the thread I posted here for the outlet store which has them dirt cheap directly from Hella.

Look on the 6th page of old threads in the "Garage Sale" section under "Hella now has an Outlet"...  There is a link and phone # to call them.
