This weekend my wife and I spent a couple days in the Carrizo Plain National Monument.  This was our first visit to the area during wildflower season and we weren’t disappointed.    Below are a few pictures shot throughout the Monument.    There are more pictures and general latitude and longitude coordinates for those looking for good areas to see by following this link.

The hosts at the visitor’s center believe that the following weekend could be the peak bloom.  It’s not too late to get out there and enjoy the view.

WOW!  Those are some amazing pictures! And the rest of them on the site are stunning as well.  It cracks me up to see how small Bella (I think that's her name right?) looks in the picture on the other site.  As a perspective for those who haven't met his puppy, she's about 5 feet tall....

Beautiful shots though, Ruth saw you posted the location up and asked if we could go.  Sadly we already did our weekend car trip (not with the Xterra though).

Nice dog, last time I saw her she looked like this.

Nice shots Jeff.  I've been wanting to get out there for a while, but never seem to find the time. It looks like you timed it well scenery wise.

Great pictures Jeff. I need to get out there before it's to late. The last 3 weekends have been spent remodeling the bathroom.

LOL Frank.  Bella pretty much looks the same.

Next weekend is supposed to be even better. It's pretty amazing out there and I'd guess 95% of the roads are 2wd friendly.
