Hello,

This weekend while driving to VictimVille I realized that my hood rattles at high speeds.  I guess I didnt notice before because we always have music on.   I checked it out when I got to my destination and it looks like the 2 rubber stoppers on each end are kinda loose.  They are not screwed on, so I couldn't tighten it that way.  Would it be dumb to glue it in place? are these easy to find replacement for?   I'll send pics later if you don't know what I'm talking about.  I was also thinking about just adding a piece of velcrow to keep it in place.

Pretty common complaint. I added rubber hood bumper stops about three or four years ago - found them on e-bay for like $6 a pair plus delivery. They've got a rubber pad with a threaded bolt that comes out. I found a couple of waiting holes and was done with it. The hardest part was adjusting them up until they touched correctly.

I've not noticed the rattle at high speeds, but the low speed squeak that is really common is back on mine. Good thing I don't already run my stereo at the top of the volume control.

It seems to me that those 2 rubber stoppers have always been kind of loose on mine. Have you checked on thenewx.org yet? They may not like pics of trucks driving fast in mud, but I think for technical stuff like hood rattles you can probably find a lot of good info.

I solved my hood squeak a couple of years ago for about $285, which was the installed cost of a new Alpine stereo head unit that has a jack in the glove box to attach an iPod.  I just crank it up.

HAHAHA,  yea i've had the suspension squeak since day 1, but music fixes that problem.  I'll be checking on ebay for those hood bumper stops.

Thanks

Xterror,

Another cheap fix to to use the adhesive backed furniture pads, and affix them to where the metal is, and the rubber won't squeak.

Or, contact Joe, Logisense, and ask him for pictures of his super slick double hydraulic hood lifter thing-ees.

I bought new rubber bumpers, and within 4 weeks they were squeaking again, so pick yer fix.  Grin
