I keep hearing they may replace the Armada with this in the US, and did you notice the control consol similar to the Land Rover -sand,mud,rock etc- just dial in the terrain. I also heard they want to put IFS in new model. I am sure I can no longer afford it if it is offered in US.

I saw an XTrail in Joshua Tree NP last Saturday.  I didn't get a chance to check it out but from what I saw it looked ok.

I dont think I can afford the offroad model right off the lot. I havent seen any used but I have seen some manual trans this week.

2) I dont know if I cant  get parts off od the old one. I am having issues and I am contacting a lawyer and later JAG. I have never bee  so pissed as a issurance company. Especially one I have been with for over ten years?

3) What are my lift options ? Other then the Blue Man Group

4) who knows the timing belt interval? 110K?

Chris,

Sorry to hear about your insurance company problems.

As for your other questions, my opinion:

1) Unless you think you really need the e-locker that comes on the OR version, the S version is pretty solid. If you get an 08-10 be sure it has the hooks on the ceiling and the plastic surface with tie-down tracks in the back. Some of the latest models make those options. Do you really want a manual trans for off-road?  The auto trans seems pretty solid in the X.  I think the only other real upgrades in the OR over the S is the stereo and the "skid" plates.  For $285 installed I got an Alpine head unit that included a cable that runs into the glove box for an iPod, all controlled from the HU in the dash. It works great, and cost a lot less than that Rockford-Fosgate that you still have to leave your iPod sitting in the console with.  As for the factory "skid" plates . . . they're kind of thin compared to Shrock's plates.

3) For a lift I suggest checking out PRG.  That is what I and several others have. Mine is rather mild, with only extra leafs in the back, no longer shackles. That suits me, but you can go higher. I am very happy with the PRG stuff.  Lifting a Gen2 in such a way that you actually get more articulation etc is not cheap like it was on the Gen1. There is really no PML since you have to deal with coil-overs in the front.  Check out the discussions on thenewx.org.

4) I think that the timing chain interval is 105K, but not sure.

well they offered to sell me back my beloved X for 1600. I have considered doing this and buy another late model to build. But then a newer X is nice as well.

not sure how to receive it is a steal . I dont like paying for parts twice. I have dabble with the thought of an rebuild with a SC X but the mileage is already 107k on one and 72K on the other . I am not sure what to do with the old X when Pull THE PARTS OFF SO I AM opting for the gen 2. I am not sure what I am going to do. I am in Nevada and found a 06 offroad.

07s are the best years - all the fixes; none of the downgrades

07s: fixed saggy rear leafs, 4 spiders instead of 2, 130 amp alt instead of 110

08+ : Robbed ceiling hooks, engine cover, and some other things i ferget. 09/10 have funky looking front ends

Are you selling any of the parts from the GEN 1?

yes I am selling the leftover gear. I have some remaing stocker steering parts. I have a king Kong Center Link , no hyms though. I have fours rock crawlers with sim bead lock. Some rash from Big Bear etc.. stock back spacing. I have fours stock SE rims. I also have a skid plate , under bumper from shrocks for ARB or Shrock.  I have a hi-lift mount for the roof rack of a gen 1. Ceramic brake pads, I thinks some news bearing for the front innner and outer. I also have a stocker trans skid from a pathy that fits the gen 1.

Hey Chris, there is a PML for the Gen 2's, and my install is briefly covered here in the Xterra Tech section.

PRG is the lift of choice, and my lift cost $278.00, was delivered in four days from order to doorstep, and took me about 6 hours to install solo.  PM me if you have any questions.

Congratulations on the 08' OR purchase, glad you went "X" instead of "XJ."  Wink
