Having broken four motor mounts over the years, I've wanted a better solution than installing the same prone-to-fail factory mount.  Now there is one.

Here is a new mount being made by Frontier2k.  His name is Richard and some of you may have seen his work over the years on other boards.  He's making and selling these and a few other items (sliders, SAS trans crossmembers, etc.) as Rock Humper Fab Works.

I installed the new mount today.  It makes for a much more solid connection; blipping the throttle shows barely any engine twist or deflection of the T-case shift lever.

That looks really beefy!  Shocked

What did the stock first gen mounts look like compared to those things?

$120 for one (or $200 for a pair according to his post on Ronin).  It came to $130 shipped.

That's a solid piece Bobby.  Does it transmit much engine vibration to the cab?

Hardly any; it still has that cushy mount on the pass side (I'll change that one out later if need be).  I can feel just a tiny bit of a "thrum" on start up and a small bit of vibe between 1k and 2k rpm.  Pretty sure I only noticed that because I wore flip flops today and drove in bare feet.

Could you post up more info on the seller or the link on Ronin Wheelers?  I might get both.

Hey man, i have a broken or loose motor mount (I think)

My first off road trip when i got the x i took it to sequoia and went on some closed trails that were really hairy and i was going up a really steep hill very slowly and then all of a sudden i notice my temp went way up and started overheating right on the hill.

i got out and checked out the engine and my fan blade was stuck against the top of the fan shroud, the entire engine slightly shifted up in the front, i trimmed the shroud a bit so i could get the fan moving again and turned around, after heading down the hill very slowly the engine went back into place...  It must have raised in the front like 1/4 inch.  I'm thinking it's motor mount, what do you think?!

I'd love the help, i just bought a new intake so I don't think my budget can take a $130 motormount this week, it will probably have to be middle of next month.   IT SUCKS WORKIN' FOR THE MAN!

Resurrecting this old thread for an update.

While driving the other day I hit the throttle and had a problem.  T-case lever shot over and back, but too far.  Bad vibes too. Got home and discovered a few things.  One, the pass side mount had apparently failed at some point, perhaps because it had been taking up all of the vibration-reducing capacity for two mounts, and two the driver's side had been slowly vibrating itself apart as a result of the failure.  It came apart, and the engine was just laying there.  Pretty much dead in the water.

I called Steven at Rugged Rocks and he sent me two of his new mounts that he's making for the first gens.  I must say, the RR mounts are a better design than the replacement I originally used.  I had had a problem during assembly when I first made this post in that things didn't really line up perfectly; the top angle was off.  I made it work by tightening the top first then getting the rest down after.  Despite using double nuts and lockwashers, everything still came loose.  I thought the angle problem was because I had only installed one and the two weren't in line, but I now know that wasn't the case.

The new RR mounts have an offset base that makes things line up correctly, you can see the difference in the pic.  To confirm this, I put in the driver's side first with the old busted mount still on the pass side.  It lined up and installed just fine.  Put in the second one and now everything is back to normal.  Also, the RR mounts use more appropriate bolts that make them easier to install than the other one I had put in.

All in all, these are a good addition.  The RR mounts are priced much better than the other one as well.

Those look very nice. Another thing to add to the get list from RR. Looking at maybe picking up the 67" sliders and making them work. Thanks for letting us know about these Bobby. Is the price ea or for both? Either way, good price any way you slice it.
