My wife and I have decided on a little Sunday cruise over the Main Divide truck trail in the Cleaveland Ntl Forrest (Orange County).  Looks to be a simple trail with much more difficult ones crossing the main route.  I'm sure lots of you have been there.
There are several places of interest including sites of Indian massacres and some great views of Lake Elsinore (we'll see).

Here is a map.   http://www.dirtopia.com/w/images/c/c4/ClevelandNationalForest.gif

We will start on the 74 between OC and Lake Elsinore and end up off the 91 freeway.   If anyone wants to meet us there just post a response and we'll wait up for you at the entrance to Main Divide truck trail... right before the campsites.  feel free to call me @ 310-425-2164.  We'll be at the entrance around 8:30am tomorrow morning.

Just to eliminate any confusion, there are several starting points that are all listed as the main divide truck trail so if anyone wants to go give me a call and let me know to wait up.  If you are coming up from OC it will be the first trail on the left, right before the campgrounds.  I will not be starting at the campsite the way it looks on the map....  looking on google the trailhead looks nothing like it does on the map I posted.

Is that the fire road that has those jolly big barriers than need to be unlocked? I know when I lived in Corona there was a road that I went up on and then got locked inside ... I waited about 20 minutes and someone with a key came by and I escaped! Looks like that northern most trail marked 1712 on the linked map.

If so you need to get a hold of the range, make the deposit ($50 if I recall correctly), and then return the key for your deposit back.

Anyone?

It was a very easy and short trail, didn't miss much.  There was a lot of shale, which cost me a tire.  Nothing really exciting although the view at the top was spectacular.  I'll post some pics later.
