I'm in it.

I found the plastic box - it's there about four inches down from the battery level on the engine side. I'd never noticed it before. It's got a pair of small wired coming out of it and running into the wire loom so I'm assuming it's a measurement of the current through the ground wire. The big wire to the starter motor by-passes this sensor.

My KC and PIAA lights are grounded to the frame as is my second battery. The only thing that is grounded directly to the battery is my ham radio which draws only about 5 amps on transmit. Hardly enough to notice in the overall picture. Amateur radios are normally run straight to the battery to avoid noise.
