4WheelParts guys just work on commission.  They know the domestic market pretty well but not so for the import market.  Try Automitive Customizers (AC) on www.4x4parts.com as they cater to the Nissan offroad market just as much as Calmini, if not more so.  The quality of contruction is also on the excellent side too.  They have everything for the Xterras on the shelf and even though they are in Florida, the shipping is very reasonable and VERY FAST!

Well, I ordered the spacer and shackle lift from PRG.  It shipped out this morning, so I hope to have it in hand by the end of the week.

Hope to have it installed in about 2 weeks.  Lookin forward to the extra clearance.  Skid plates are next.  Thanks for all the feedback and advice from the club members here.

Although I'm new to the Xterra, I have heard "uncomplimentary" comments about Calmini over the past few years.  If the other guys here are supporting PRG, I think I would, as FrankB said, "take the highroad and skip all the drama."  As for 4 Wheel Parts, the stores in Chula Vista and El Cajon did not impress me in the least and I do have a Jeep.  If you want to stick an 8"-10" lift on an F-150 so you can run 40" tires on 22" rims then they would seem to be the go to guys.  Whether it's their counter-monkeys or wrench-benders in back, the turn-over rate seems high, while quality remains mediocre at best.

Coming from a Jeep background I have got to honestly say I was/am blown away with the Xterra's specs on paper as well as off road.  Honestly, I can't say I've ever seen one on the trails before and don't know why.  This is Nissan's best kept secret if you ask me.  As with any rig, there is always room for improvement but it's a damn good rig right out of the box too.

Let me ask y'all a question...What's a mild lift, full skids, front bumper and a winch do to your mileage?  Obviously, it's going to go down a bit but how much?

I've got everything you mentioned minus the winch and my scan gauge II tells me I get around 14-15 combined city/highway.

Thanks.  And I didn't mean to hijack the tread but the mods talk just got me thinking.  With less than 1000 miles on the engine I'm currently getting a combined average of 17, which might even improve a bit as everything settles in.  So, we're looking at a 2-3 mpg drop.  Not bad, considering my Jeep with 4.88 gears on 35" tires gets a whopping 10-12 combined.   Grin

Hey Phil, I agree with the 14-15 mpg, as I get about 16-17 combined right now and plan the same mods as you.  I noticed the biggest difference when I switched from the 265 stock tires to the 285 BFG a/t's.

I echo your sentiments on 4 wheel parts, and had a very poor experience in San Marcos.  The counter jock actually referred to my Xterra as "a grocery getting soccer mom vehicle."  I promptly returned my purchase and went up the street to ORW.  Haven't been back since.

Glad to see you are realizing the pluses of the Xterra.  I too did a lot of research on these great vehicles, and came away impressed, even more so now that I own one.

AND....a great community of owners!  Grin
