I have tried mothers back to black
And it looks good for a while but then goes back to the same old faded color
Has anyone panted their bumper and plastic parts?
What did you use and how did you do it?

I just detailed mine this past weekend...

I use this thing called Bumper Restorer from a local company (also used by detailers here in SD). I will post the website next time..

Erick has done this.  I don't think he's registered on this new site.  I talked to him about it before.  He was very meticulous with it.  Removed all of the plastic parts, sanded, cleaned, and painted.  I think it took him a while.

I tried Meguires Gold Class Trim Detailer and it worked very well on my first gen X.  It has only been on for one week, so I am not sure how long it will last.....You have to apply it and rub it in, and you will see the black color come back to life.

I sprayed my plastics with beliner. i probably wouldnt do it again. hte bedliner faded really badly in the sun. i think because of the rubber stuff in it. i also painted them(after they faded) with somekrylon fusion. i think thats your best bet

i used the duplicolor bumper coating. it seems to be working really well.

Its been through all kinds of stuff from freezing rain, hail and snow to sitting every day in the sun since november. No fading or chipping.

The snorkel, bumper (obviously) and wind screen are not painted with it, but the front plastic pieces are.

thats the latest pic i have.
